Victoria Ann Okuniewski

The world lost an irreplaceable spirit; on June 11, 2023, Victoria Ann Okuniewski (63) passed away, ending a prolonged illness. Her family is deeply saddened by her passing and is forever grateful for the love they were able to share. Victoria "Tori" was born on February 27, 1960, to Rocco and Grace DeSantis in Detroit, Michigan. She lived her young life with her siblings, Nick and her late sister Lisa, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She graduated from Sterling Heights High School and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree while working as a Procurement Specialist at the Detroit Arsenal Tank Plant. Victoria will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 39 years, Michael, her son Vincent, and their late son Anthony. She was forever proud of her son, touting him as her "greatest accomplishment." She enjoyed a day at the ballpark with Michael, an impromptu weekend together, and concerts in the park with friends and appreciated everything life offered. Anyone who knew Victoria knew her love of Christmas and the many joyous family holidays. Victoria's beautiful and infectious smile, laughter, and outgoing personality will be greatly missed by all that know her. Examples are too numerous to mention, and the love she gave outweighs any paragraph that can be written in any honorarium. Every person she met enjoyed her company, and she now lives with everyone who has had the chance to know and love her. Victoria "Kiki" will be incredibly missed. Her memories are eternally carried by her brother Nicholas (Shelly) DeSantis, sisters-in-law Tina (Kevin) Green and Lisa (Jeff) Erfourth, and survived by her loving nieces and nephews Jennifer (Danny), Ashley, James (Julie), Jarrett (Lori), Lola, Ruby, Ava, Mia, and great niece and nephews Roselynn, Dimitrije, Henry, and Remy. Victoria's talents touched many lives through her desire for sewing and her unbridled love for her family. She took on many passions over the years, but it was her initial exposure to the sewing industry through her grandmother; that kindled her love for sewing. She would always find peace in making that special, well-thought-out gift. Victoria sought to build bridges throughout the sewing industry by directing and teaching others her skills. Still, most importantly, she wished and hoped they felt her desire so that they could share the same passion with their own family and loved ones. She was always thinking of others and had their best interest in mind. Her obsessive love of sewing and family is felt by anyone that received a stitched, embroidered, or quilted tapestry of her talent. Many will forever remember her, as she has unknowingly and unselfishly woven a fabric of friends and acquaintances throughout her life, one stitch at a time. Victoria was a beautiful, kind, and thoughtful person inside and out. She cared so deeply for the people around her, and everyone that knew her understood that she personified her unequivocal love for family first. Victoria will be forever missed.
