Marilyn Grace Peters

Marilyn Grace Peters, 72, of Clinton Township, MI, took her final bow and joined the heavenly choir on Feb. 3, 2025. Born Nov. 28, 1952, in Saginaw, MI, she made a lifetime of music, laughter, and unwavering love for her family before passing at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. Marilyn’s voice carried through choirs all over metro Detroit, most recently as a member of St. Blase’s adult choirs, Revenant and VIP. With St. Blase, she sang at Carnegie Hall in New York City, and with Rackham Choir, she performed alongside the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Whether in a grand concert hall or a humble church pew, she filled every space with harmony and heart. Professionally, Marilyn was a trailblazer for women in the automotive industry. She was among the first generation of women to attend the General Motors Institute (now Kettering University), where she joined in chartering the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. She began her career at General Motors, later pivoted to become a CPA, and eventually rounded out her career with a long tenure at FCA. Her boss once joked that if she passed the CPA exam on the first try, he’d pay for the class. She did. He paid. Marilyn held bachelor’s degrees from both General Motors Institute and Saginaw Valley State University. But she’d tell you her proudest title was "biggest fan." She rarely missed any of her daughter’s meets, games, performances, or achievements, and she extended that same unwavering support to grandkids, nieces, nephews, friends, and more. Her desire to be present for those she loved earned her the highest praise from her grandson who said she was "the best Nana who ever Nana'd!" A devout Catholic, Marilyn found deep comfort in her faith, particularly in the intercession of Mary, mother of God. No matter life's trials she would always say the same prayer, "God's will be done," affirming her faith in God's plan. Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Trisha Secord (Alicia); brothers, Frank Fulara, Tim Fulara (Connie), Dan Fulara (April), and Mike Fulara (Doreen); three grandchildren, Dylan, Dominic, and Matthew; and a host of nieces, nephews, and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Elizabeth Fulara. A visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons in Sterling Heights, with family hour from 2-3 p.m. Please gather at 9 a.m. for a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, at St. Blase Parish in Sterling Heights. A luncheon will follow at Century Banquet Center in Sterling Heights until 1 p.m. The family will gather for a private burial Saturday afternoon at St. Mary Cemetery in St. Charles.
