Maria Raimondo

RAIMONDO, Maria (nee: Bonasoro) passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, at the age of 95. She was the beloved wife of 12 years of the late Angelo Roberti. Due to her late husband's unexpected illness, they did not have any children. In 1981, through family, she was introduced to a young widower with four young children. After many conversations with him, she felt in her heart that it was meant for them to meet and, a short time after, they were married. She was the beloved wife of 23 years of the late Pietro Raimondo. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She leaves behind her step-children, Vito Raimondo (Antoinette), Giuseppina Scaglione (Norm), Lucia Buff (Earl), and Giovanna Raimondo-LaRocca (Dominic). Proud and loving grandmother of Felicia Davidson (Izac), Michael, Steven, Mark, Antonino, Sofia, Tristan and Santino, and great-grandmother of Sydney. She was predeceased by her sister, Vittina. Born in Salemi, Sicily, she was a woman of deep faith, and lived her life guided by her love for God. She carried her strong faith, cultural traditions, and values with her throughout her life. In her early years, she worked in Palermo, Sicily, where her dedication, humility, and compassion were evident to all who knew her. She devoted many years of her professional life to working at a "casa di riposo" (retirement home), run by Father Girolamo in Palermo, Sicily, where she proudly served as the lead cook. She saw her work as a calling, caring for others through nourishment and kindness. Her meals were prepared with love and faith, offering comfort not only to the body but also to the spirit. At home, she was the heart of her family. She expressed her love through cooking, baking (known for her perfectly delicious Cuccidati and Pignolata), as well as canning, gardening, sewing and knitting. Her trust in God sustained her throughout her life, and she faced both joys and challenges with faith and perseverance. She leaves behind an example of selflessness, devotion, and love for others. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Maria will lie instate while the Rosary is prayed on Monday from 9:30am until time of 10am Mass at San Francesco Catholic Church, 22870 S. Nunneley (E. of Gratiot, S. of Metro Parkway), Clinton Township. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.
