ALFASTSEN, Kenneth, Age 72, July 12, 2026 With absolute heartbreaking sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Kenneth William Alfastsen, on July 12, 2026 Born in Detroit on July 30th 1953, he lived to celebrate 72 birthdays on his journey through life, and I'm pretty sure every one of them were celebrated in true happiness and joy, surrounded by his closest family, friends, and the people most important to him throughout his life. Ken had a lifetime career in the graphic arts industry, and thoroughly enjoyed expressing his many artistic talents and visions that he created through the work that he produced. For over 50 years he served countless small businesses, corporations, friends, etc... and anyone in need of his artistic ideas and personal touches and suggestions. His true joy was always his participation and involvement supplying the various racing teams and motorsports companies with the work he crafted throughout his years in the industry. As any, and all who upon meeting Ken for the first time, it wasn't long before you were hit with the talk about his ultimate passion of riding motorcycles. As you all know, it certainly came down to one brand his entire life, BMW motorcycles. If he had anywhere to be, the first choice would be riding his bike as the standard mode of transportation to get there, no matter where he was going. He enjoyed traveling the country visiting practically every state except Alaska and Hawaii, rode for 55+ years, and accumulated well over 600,000 miles taking in the beauty of the countryside, and back roads, north to south, coast to coast, and east to west attending countless BMW events, rallys, shows, and anything motorcycle related. He enjoyed doing it all, and from a prospective that many don't know, or have experienced, on a motorcycle. Ken thoroughly enjoyed his almost five years of retirement, and I'm sure he had thoughts and visions of future endeavors that he was cooking up in that mind of his. But the one thing that was his ultimate treasure in life was his son Kaz. As everyone knows from day one, until his untimely goodbye to us on July 12th, everyone knew what was going on with his son at every point throughout his childhood, his service in the military, and anything in between. Proud father was simply an understatement when it came to his role as dad. We are all going to miss his presence, his sarcasm, his sharp insults, his dry humor, his rapid fire wit, and his middle finger. Ken is survived by his beloved son Kaz, his brother Chris, nephew Christopher (Rosalie), nieces Mallory, Nicole, and Sara, and his partner Eileen. He was predeceased by his parents Antoin and Elizabeth, and his sisters Kelly, and Kathy. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 from 3-9pm at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile Rd). Instate will be Saturday, July 25, 2026 from 9am until the time of Mass at 9:30am at St. Michael Catholic Community 40501 Hayes Rd, Sterling Heights, MI 48313.
