Jude Francis Koltz

Jude Francis Koltz Aka “Juju”, sadly passed away on March 17, 2024, at the age of 9 after a six month fight with chronic subdural hematomas. A resident of Shelby Township, he was born in Ann Arbor to his Mama and Pop-pop, Kristin and Patrick Koltz on April 14, 2014. His memory will always be cherished by his amazing big sister and protector, Sophia “Fifi,” (who is also known for starting Jude’s love of slushees). He will always be dearly remembered by his Grandma and Grumpy, Betty Jo and William Koltz; Nana and Papa, Nancy and Micheal Moceri; Great Granda Gerri Moceri (who always supplied his favorite banana pudding); Godfather- Uncle Georgie (Mike Moceri II); Leeanne and Mark Osantowoski; Chris and Kat Klott; Godmother, Jo-Marie Ruggeri; GodMother, Laura Holtzman; Auntie Erin Warbington; Aunt Lisa Lauretti; and Aunt Leslie Burns. He will also be missed by his cousins Iean and Teagan Klott, Brendan and Kelsey Osantowsky, as well as Myles and Matteo Moceri. During his nine years, Jude deeply enjoyed spending time outside, especially with his Pop-pop, spending endless hours together in the garage listening to a Detroit Tigers game or music. In addition to their love for the outdoors, they also watched daily Disney movies together, their favorites being The Lion King and Moana. Sharing his love of music with his Mama, Jude always enjoyed listening to tunes of all kinds, with his favorite artists being Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Santana, Beatles, Prince, and Frank Sinatra. Ju and Mama would listen to music and sing (usually poorly) all day long, a memory which his Mama will always cherish. In addition to their mutual love for music, the zoo also held a special place in their hearts, with the penguins being Jude’s favorite exhibit. As many will attest, he absolutely hated any sort of petting zoo, because of the goats--the bane of his existence. On the other hand, his most peaceful place was the water. Whether it was boating, being on the boardwalk in Algonac, or just simply being near a lake, his happy place was always the water. In honor of Jude the family asks that you wear concert, University of Michigan or Detroit Tigers shirts. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff and nurses at Hospice of Michigan and University of Michigan-Mott Children’s Hospital as well as his teachers at Glenn Peters Elementary. Your outpouring in Jude’s life will never be forgotten. Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6 from 10:00am until the time of the Memorial Service at 1:00pm at Wujek – Calcaterra & Sons (54880 Van Dyke Ave – Shelby Township). A luncheon at The Pantry Restaurant will be held following the Memorial Service.
