Jack Goss (1936–2026) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Goss, who peacefully departed this life on August 17, 2026, surrounded by his family. Jack was born on December 27, 1936, in Boswell, Pennsylvania. Jack graduated from East Detroit High School in 1955, where he met the love of his life, Shirley. He was a devoted husband for 69 years and a loving father to five children. As a skilled tradesman, Jack spent 38 years in the Elevator Constructors Industry, earning a reputation for his strong work ethic and pride in quality work. He was elected and served for many years on the Executive Board for the union Local 36. Jack was also committed to mentoring apprentices and supporting the next generation of skilled tradespeople. From an early age, Jack loved the outdoors—fishing, hunting, and camping with family and friends. He especially cherished the many hunting trips shared with his brothers and sons. Some of his happiest moments were spent at his children’s cottages in Northern Michigan, enjoying time with them and his grandchildren. Jack’s legacy is one of quiet strength and unwavering generosity. He showed his love through action—always ready to lend his time, his hands, and his many skills. Whether helping family with home projects or serving his church with the same steady devotion he gave to those he loved, Jack could do anything and everything. He was truly a jack-of-all-trades. He will forever be in our hearts. Jack is survived by his wife of 69 years, Shirley; his children Patrick (Kathy), Amy (Gary), Beth (Jack), and William (Susan), 12 grandchildren and 11 great‑grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son Daniel, great granddaughter Rylee, all of his siblings, and parents, William and Stella Goss. A celebration of Jack’s life will be held August 27, 2026. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by a service at 10:30 a.m., at Community Christian Church, 42400 Ryan Rd., Sterling Heights, MI 48314. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wave Project, an organization that serves people by providing love, shelter, mobile showers and essentials to those in need.
