Gerette Marie Ignash

IGNASH, Gerette "Geri." February 19, 2026. Age 62. Geri was born to Robert and Carol Covins in Detroit, Michigan in 1963. She grew up with her two brothers and younger sister in Warren and Rochester Hills, Michigan. Upon her graduation from Rochester Adams High School, she attended Oakland University where she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education. Geri worked at St. Anne Catholic Grade school for over 25 years. She was a much loved and respected teacher by both her colleagues and students. Geri will always be remembered for her creativity, her positivity, and her incredible sense of humor. Geri loved traveling…visiting Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, and Europe many times. She was an avid photographer, enjoyed crafting, and spent many hours antiquing and visiting flea markets. However, Geri’s greatest love was that of family. She loved spending time with her parents, husband, siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Family dinners, playing games, taking vacations, or just spending time together brought Geri an enormous amount of happiness! Geri spent countless hours with her nieces and nephews, taking them on adventures during the weekend and during her summers off. She was incredibly proud of them and being their aunt was one of her greatest roles. She also loved her two dogs, Chloe and Malia. Beloved wife of Mathew Ignash for 22 years. Dearest sister of Bob (Debi), Ken (Vicki), and Cindi (Tony). Loving aunt of Callie (Clark), Leanne (Will), Carisa, Allie, Danielle, Taylor, Mike, Nick, and Bella, and great-aunt of Emma, Weston, Atlas, and Gemma. She is survived by her dog Malia. She is predeceased by her parents Robert and Carol Covins. Geri will always be loved and greatly missed by her family and friends. All of the special memories made with Geri will be forever treasured. A Memorial Gathering will take place on Saturday, March 14th, from 9:30am until the time of the Mass at 10:00am at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1400 Inglewood Ave, Rochester, MI 48307.
