Dorothy Margaret Ferrara

DOROTHY MARGARET FERRARA, AGE 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, and was preceded in death by her adoring parents, Joseph & Theresa Giordano and brother Joseph Jr. (Rosalie). Born February 8, 1933 in Carbondale, PA as the daughter of a coal miner and a seamstress, Dorothy and her family moved to the Detroit area when she was 10 years of age. The Giordano family later settled in St. Clair Shores, MI. In 1950 she worked at Packard Motor Company as a stenographer, and met the love of her life, Rudy, whom she married the following year. Sharing 63 wonderful years together, he predeceased her in 2014. Dorothy was a loving wife and mother and together she and Rudy shared five children; Randy (Sharon), Valerie Glasgow (Larry), Gary (Annette), Donna (William Kote) and Cheryl (Scott Kreitzbender), along with her beautiful grandchildren Michael, Kristin (Ray), Andrew (Jon), Brad (Kelly), Danielle, Jessica (Mark), Joseph and Gianna and six cherished great-grandchildren, Pailyn, Zac, Ava, Senja, Rudy, and Leelyn. She was most happy being in the midst of her very large and boisterous Italian family! Dorothy was an avid homemaker and loved cooking and baking for her family. Christmas Eve in particular was a site to behold with a vast traditional Italian dinner! She enjoyed golf, bowling, and music. Dorothy was a committed supporter of St. Jude's Children's Hospital and United States Humane Society. A devoted Child of God, Dorothy was a long-time parish member of St. Martin de porres and later, St. Lawrence Catholic church in Utica. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her... Visitation Sunday from 3-8 with 6pm Rosary at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). Instate Monday 9:30am until the 10:00am Funeral Mass will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church 44633 Utica Rd, Utica, MI 48317. Entombment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Her family wishes to acknowledge all those who kept her in their hearts and who offered up their prayers for her. It truly has made her journey, and that of her family's much more peaceful...
