Dean Kokas

Dean Kokas passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on January 10, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Felicia, his beautiful wife for 60 cherished years. His legacy will continue to live through his family. Loving father of Linda (Alex) Boosalis, Mary (Ted) Tangalos and Nicholas (Anna) Kokas. Proud and treasured grandfather of Felicia Boosalis; Alexis, Dean, and Philip Tangalos; and Constantine and Ari Kokas. Devoted son of Nikolaos and Olymbia Kokkalias (both deceased) in Greece. Caring brother of the late Yianni Kokkalias and sister Chrysoula (the late Giorgos) Vlachos in Greece. Affectionate brother-in-law to Yiannis and Filitsa (both deceased) Hatziantoniou, Angeliki (Stefanos) Karayiannopoulos, and Rena (Fori) Tzella. Admiring and precious uncle to many nieces and nephews here and in Greece. Dean arrived in America on January 1, 1950 at the tender age of 18 to help sustain his family back in Greece. He was the executive chef at the Chambertin Restaurant in Dearborn, Michigan. He loved gardening, music, and long trips with his family. He devoted his life to his wife, children and his church. He will always be remembered for his kindness toward all. He was a very caring and compassionate and loving soul who always helped others when he could. Those who knew him best confirm he was the most wonderful and Godly human being they have ever known. He was a true gentleman and a good friend. He represented a kind and courageous generation and his standard for life will serve as a heroic example for many. He fought a courageous battle for many years against Dementia. But, is now at rest with God. He will be dearly missed. Visitation Monday 3-8pm with a 7pm Trisagion Prayer Service at St. John Greek Orthodox Church. Funeral Tuesday Instate 9am at St. John Greek Orthodox Church, 11455 Metro Pkwy, until time of Funeral Liturgy 10am. Interment Guardian Angel Cemetery.
