Brian Neal Birdwell

Brian Neal Birdwell October 29, 1961 – July 6, 2026 With deep sadness, but also with profound gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Brian Neal Birdwell, who entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on July 6, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, following a courageous battle with glioblastoma. Brian was born on October 29, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan, to Eddie “Frank” Birdwell and Frances “Fran” Birdwell (née Gearhart). A 1979 graduate of Sterling Heights High School, Brian lived a life marked by quiet strength, unwavering integrity, deep faith, and steadfast devotion to those he loved. A proud retiree at the age of 55, Brian dedicated more than 30 years of his career to John Deere, previously Century Rain Aid. Through hard work, exceptional leadership, and a passion for excellence, he advanced through several management positions, earning numerous professional awards and the admiration of colleagues. While he appreciated recognition for a job well done, his greatest accomplishment was being a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud Papa, and faithfully providing for the family he loved so deeply. A lifelong member of Troy Church of Christ, Brian’s Christian faith guided every aspect of his life. Brian found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson on unforgettable trips with his son, golfing, pickle-ball and tennis, working in the yard, cheering on his favorite Detroit teams, and spending time at the family cottage in Port Sanilac, Michigan. In retirement, he and Lynne cherished winters at Six Lakes Country Club in North Fort Myers, Florida, where they enjoyed time with friends, neighbors, and family. Brian also treasured lifelong friendships, especially with David (Linda) Kett and Bill (Colleen) Cardella, whose decades of friendship reflected the loyalty and faithfulness he valued throughout his life. Those who knew Brian will remember a dependable and confident man whose actions spoke louder than words. Though he rarely wore his emotions on his sleeve, his love was evident in the sacrifices he made, the example he set, and the steady presence he provided for those he loved. His strong work ethic, unwavering faith, and deep love for his family leave a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him. Brian is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Lynne Birdwell (née Siladke); his son, Brian (Megan Morell) Birdwell; his daughter, Brooke (Joseph) Zuccaro; his cherished grandchildren, Aubree and Jackson Birdwell; his sisters, Lauren Birdwell and Kerrie Birdwell; his sisters-in-law, Michelle (Don) Glandon and Laurie (the late Frank Amalfitano); his brother-in-law, Rodger (Karen) Siladke; his much-loved nieces and nephews; his lifelong friends, David (Linda) Kett and Bill (Colleen) Cardella; and many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie “Frank” Birdwell and Frances “Fran” Birdwell; his mother-in-law, Janice (Lovell) Siladke; and his brother-in-law, Frank Amalfitano. Though our hearts are broken by his absence, we find comfort in the promise of his faith and rejoice in the assurance that he is now at peace in the presence of his Savior. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date, details will follow.
