Anna Trigilio

In loving memory of Anna Trigilio (nee Amara), 95 years old, who passed on peacefully at home on Friday, June 5, 2020 after being visited and cared for by family. She was the first child of Santo and Rosaria Amara (nee Ballotta), and was born in Augusta, Sicily on Christmas Day 1924. The doctor warned her mother she was frail and probably wouldn't survive past 6 months. She liked to tell the story on how she proved them wrong. Her family relocated to Detroit, Michigan when she was three years old. In the ensuing years her parents had 7 more children, the late Sam (Grace), Chuck (Mary), late Joseph, Maria (Woody Woodson), Carmela (Lou Vlassis) Josephine (Benjamin Sheldon), late Frank (Diane), all of whom stayed close through-out the years. As a young woman, her smarts and attention to detail got her a well-compensated position as an Airplane Engine Inspector at Ford's during WWII. She was ahead of her time when she persuaded Hudson's to give her a charge plate in her name at 19 years old without having to get her father's or a husband's approval. On August 28, 1948 she married the late Santo Trigilio and was the loving mother of three children, Vincent (Jo Ann), Michael (Wendy) and Sharon. As a mother and home-maker she was exceptionally organized, a meticulous housekeeper, an amazing cook, an excellent money manager, very thoughtful and extremely generous. She enjoyed baking, cake decorating, canning, knitting, crocheting, sewing and reading. She is the beloved grandmother of Pamela, Donna, Scott (Narissa), and Beth, as well as the beloved great grandmother to Jasmine, Kassi and Ellie. She is the loved aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was known and loved by many extended family members and friends. She also had many kind, caring and helpful neighbors. We love you and you will be missed. Until we meet again… Funeral services are private and with only immediate family members. She will be buried beside Santo at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.
