Zef Camaj

Zef Marku Camaj, age 80, of Sterling Heights, Michigan, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Zef was born in Malesia in 1946. He attended school in Malesia and later continued his education in Kosovo. He became a teacher. His students remembered him as a devoted and dedicated teacher who made a lasting impression on those he taught. Zef married and eventually moved with his family first to Italy and then to the United States, where he worked tirelessly to build a life for and raise his four children. Above all else, Zef was a loving father, and his greatest pride and joy was his family. Those who knew Zef will remember his wonderful sense of humor and his unmistakable smile. He had a special gift for making people laugh, often with a perfectly timed joke or playful teasing that was always good-natured. He was someone who could make you laugh even when you least expected it, and those moments will be treasured forever. Zef was also an avid soccer fan and a talented chess player. He especially enjoyed a serious game of chess, where his competitive side came out. Whether discussing soccer, playing chess, or simply sitting with family and friends, Zef found joy in the simple moments of life and in the people around him. Zef leaves behind his four children, Tom Camaj, Flora Mukavec, Liza McKenna, and Ange Cicin-Sain, who will forever carry his love, laughter, and beautiful memories in their hearts. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Isabella and Gabby Mukavec, Joshua and Caitlin McKenna, and Marcello and Ivo Cicin-Sain. Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we are deeply grateful for the years, memories, laughter, and love he gave us. Zef’s life was defined by his devotion to his family, his kindness, his humor, and the joy he brought to those around him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 2-8pm at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, 54880 Van Dyke at 25 Mile Rd. (Shelby Township). Instate 9:30am followed by a 10am Mass on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at St. Paul Albanian Catholic Church, 525 W Auburn Rd, Rochester Hills, MI 48307.
