William "Bill" Misterovich

William Wayne Misterovich, 84, of Macomb Township, Michigan, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on July 11, 2026, after a brief illness. He was born on October 7, 1941, in Hamtramck, to Joseph and Anne Misterovich. He grew up in Center Line with his siblings Jack and Rosemarie. He graduated from St. Clement High School where he met his future wife Deanna. William earned his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of Michigan and his Juris Doctorate from the Detroit College of Law. He dedicated more than 55 years to public service, with 26 years as the Chief Deputy Public Works Commissioner for Macomb County, Michigan. An avid follower of federal, state, and local politics, William brought the same sharp mind to civic life that he brought to everything he did. A devoted sports fan, William cheered for the Detroit Lions throughout his life, patiently awaiting their next championship since the team's NFL title in 1957, when he was just 16 years old. He was an extraordinarily intelligent and trusted man, someone to whom family and friends instinctively turned for counsel. Though a man of few words, his advice was always measured, thoughtful, and deeply valued. Remarkably dependable, William was the steady, unwavering force at the center of his family, always present and always supportive through life's challenges. William is survived by his wife of 61 years, Deanna; his daughters Jill (Peter) Brunett, Beth (Jeffery) Wheeler, and Lynn (Bernie) Burnett; his son Eric (Marian) Misterovich; his sister Rosemarie; and thirteen grandchildren: Joshua, Emily, Nathan, Tyson, Luke, Bo, Tatum, Amelia, Myles, Tori, Eliza, Jude, and Jocelyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anne Misterovich, and his brother John (Jack) Misterovich. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons Funeral Home, 36900 Schoenherr Road, Sterling Heights, MI 48312. On Monday, July 20, 2026, William will lie in state at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church, 8075 Ritter St., Center Line, MI 48015. A luncheon will follow. Interment will take place at St. Clement Cemetery. William will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
