William Harvey Compton, Jr (Bill) passed away peacefully in the early hours of Monday, August 9, 2021, surrounded by loved ones at Troy Beaumont Hospital. Compton, 85, is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Molly Sue Compton (Greene); three daughters, Belinda (Allen) Dennison, Melissa (Todd) Peddle and Amanda Compton; three grandchildren, Dr. Anthony M. Peddle, Jessica Peddle and Tosha Denison; two great grandsons, Ellijah Karr and Everett Hayward; and countless loved ones, friends, and chosen family. Bill is preceded in death by his son, William (Billy) Compton, III; his brothers Wade, Paul, Donald and Wendel Compton, and sisters, Zelma (Jean) (Frank) Baldridge and Cora Calhoun. Born in 1936, Bill was a joy and light in the world in his short 85 years on this earth. As a Marine, he served valiantly; as a soldier of the Lord, he served willingly; and as a servant leader, he served humbly. Bill retired from the Daimler Chrysler company and could frequently be found “fishing out the pond” or causing more gray hair to appear for Sue. As a father of four, grandfather to three, great grandfather to two, and “Papa” to countless, memories of Bill abound as family rejoices in glory that Bill is home with the Lord Jesus. While Bill’s work on Earth is done, his spiritual guidance and work has only just begun. Bill led by example devoting time each day to be thankful and present, to connect with Jesus and create an everlasting bond. With this bond and surrounded by the love of family, Bill will continue his servant leadership. Family will receive visitors at Wujek Calcaterra & Sons at 54880 Van Dyke Avenue at 25 Mile Road, Shelby Township, on Thursday, August 12 from 2 to 7pm. On Friday, August 13, Bill will lie in state from 10:30 until the funeral service at 11 am at the Shelby Bible Church (47905 Hayes Road, Shelby Township) with interment to follow immediately at Christian Memorial Gardens.
