Walter "Walt" Kwiatkowski

KWIATKOWSKI, Walter. February 10, 2026. Age 85. Walt was a devoted family man who would do anything for the people he loved. He was married to the late Carolyn for 63 wonderful years after the two met at St. Ladilaus Catholic High School in Hamtramck. Together, they raised four children and cherished every moment spent with their kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Walt and Carolyn loved traveling throughout Michigan and especially treasured time at their cottage Up North. Walt truly loved that property—he was always fixing something, working on projects, cutting the grass, and rarely sitting still. He worked hard and played hard. Walt enjoyed playing hockey, riding his four-wheeler, Jeep, and side-by-side, fishing, and taking pontoon rides. He was always willing to lend a hand and could often be found snow blowing a neighbor’s driveway, cutting their grass, or helping others with handyman projects. Walt had an incredible sense of humor and was known for his quick, witty one-line comebacks—he could rival a comedian. He maintained that humor right until the end. His kindness, humor, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Beloved husband of the late Carolyn (Gawel) Kwiatkowski for 63 incredible years. Loving father of the late Gregg (Patti), Paul, Doug (fiancé Sherrie), and Lynn (Shawn) Davis. Proud and adored grandfather of Paul Jr. (fiancé Morgan) (The late Melissa), Jacie (Everett), Danielle (Corey), Mitchell (fiancé Olivia), Samantha, Dean, Megan (David), Nathan, the late Brendan, and great-grandfather of Theo, Grace, Aiden, Waylon, Jackson, Tinsley, and Owen. Dearest brother of Richard (the late Mary Ann) Kwiatkowski, the late Stanley (the late Juanita) Kwiatkowski and the late Judy (the late Jerry) Lusk. Visitation will take place on Sunday February 15th from 2:00pm to 9:00pm at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons 54880 Van Dyke at 25 Mile Rd. (SHELBY TOWNSHIP). Instate 9:30am followed by a 10:00am Mass on Monday February 16th at St. Kieran Catholic Church,53600 Mound Rd, Shelby Twp, MI 48316.
