Tyron "Ty" Richardson

RICHARDSON, Tyron "Ty". April 12, 2026. Age 83. Beloved husband of Lori. Born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan on May 2, 1942 the oldest son of Solomon (Leo) and Virginia (Hoffman) Richardson. Ty attended St. Gertrude High School where he excelled at football and received All City and All State recognition for basketball. Ty graduated in 1960. The following year, he married his high school sweetheart Patricia Kennedy; together, they raised 4 daughters Cheryl Richardson, Christine (Robert) Wroblewski, Colleen (Lee) Mayes and Peggy (Art) McKinney before she passed away in 1980. Ty later welcomed a fifth daughter, Nicol Richardson-Fox (Bart) from a subsequent marriage. Ty married his wife Lori Bolone in 1985 and together raised her son, Brandon (Jennifer) Kaczmarek and daughter, Katie (Jason) Baird. Together Ty and Lori have 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. All 7 children would agree that Ty was a tough Dad to each of them, "lovingly" telling them to "suck up your guts," always encouraging them all to do their best. With each new generation of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the hard nosed Dad became a real softy. He loved to encourage and engage in mischief with his grandchildren frequently, all the time laughing and enjoying every moment. Ty's chocolate malts were famous and he looked forward to making them for anyone who showed up at their Caseville cottage. Recently a grandchild told one of Ty’s kids they need to step up their "malt game" so her children can enjoy the same tradition. Ty worked as a machinist and shop supervisor for over 40 years, running a variety of large machines and producing things such as large gears for the "Big Three", Vlasic Pickles and Morton Salt. In his spare time, Ty coached basketball starting with his youngest brother's team at St. Angela’s, then at DeLaSalle Collegiate. In later years, he was assistant football coach at L'anse Creuse Middle School. Ty's greatest pride was coaching his children and grandchildren in basketball, tee ball and softball and cheering on all of his kids, grandkid's and great-grandkid's variety of events. Ty's competitive side extended beyond sports. He was a fierce board and card game competitor, among his favorites were Euchre, Monopoly and Yahtzee. Many Yahtzee games were played with his wife, kids, grandkids and great-grandkids in the last years of his life. Ty was an avid Detroit and Michigan college sports fan. His greatest wish was for the Detroit Lions to win the superbowl. Ty's favorite pastimes were bowling, scoring 298 twice and golf. His many golfing achievements include a Hole In One and winning the club championship at Scenic Golf Club where he and Lori were members for over 25 years. Ty also loved spending time with his wife and family at their cottage in Caseville Michigan, which has now become home or second homes to many of the Richardson clan. Ty loved to dance and sing. Often joining along with his brothers the late Cory (Cheryl), David and Tim (Peggy) many times including "Pennies from Heaven" which they were proud to say their father sang on the radio with Danny Thomas. One of Ty's favorites was "I left my Heart in San Francisco" by Tony Bennett.. There was not a dry eye in the house when Ty sang "Daddy’s Little Girl" to his daughters at their weddings. Eyes would open wide when newcomers to family events would hear OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHH come out of one of the Richardson boys, and those familiar would be ready to sing "The Dingleberry Song" and preparing to bang on the table as they finished with rump baddy ada, bump, bump. Ty was one of the world's biggest foodies. There wasn’t a fast food restaurant, bakery, donut shop or pizza place that Ty didn’t hit on his drive between home and the cottage. Ty’s signature song was "My Way" by Frank Sinatra. Some would say - that’s how he rolled - his way. Visitation Wednesday from 3-8pm at Wujek - Calcaterra & Sons Inc., (Shelby) 54880 Van Dyke at 25 Mile Rd. Funeral Thursday Instate from 9:30am until time of 10am Mass at St. Kieran Church, 53600 Mound Rd, Shelby Township, 48316 (Btw. 24 & 25 Mile Rd). Interment, Guardian Angel Cemetery.
