Sellers, Teri (nee Corn) Age 58 Oct. 20, 2021. Loving mother of Jeff (Tabitha) Sellers and Steven (Sarah) Sellers. Dearest grandmother of Jeffrey and Samantha. Sister of Tom (Sally) Corn and Mary (Tony) MacDonald. Beloved daughter of Calvin and Barbara Corn. Aunt of 3 and great-aunt of 7. On Wednesday, October 20th, Teri Jane Sellers, passed away surrounded by family after almost a year long battle with stomach cancer. Teri was born December 16, 1962 and grew up in Royal Oak, MI. As a child, she loved camping with her brother and sister. She graduated from Dondero High School in 1981. After her children were born, Teri moved to Washington Township where she raised her two sons, Jeffrey and Steven. In recent years, she has been a resident of Shelby Township. Teri was the definition of a mom and grandma: her family and friends were blessed with the very best. From hosting family Christmases, trips to Florida to spend time with her mom and dad, and sleepovers with her nieces, Teri loved being surrounded by her family. Her evening chats with Jeff and hikes with Steven were some of the boys’ favorite moments with their mom. She was their advice giver and confidant. No matter the time of day, Teri was always a listening ear for her kids. Besides being an incredible mother, being a grandma to Jeffrey and Samantha was the joy of Teri’s life. She was affectionately known by her grandchildren as “Grandma Uppy-down”. Teri worked for the United States Postal Service for over 33 years. She started as a mail clerk in 1988. She then worked as a mail processing equipment mechanic, the job from which she retired from. Teri also enjoyed 5 years of working alongside her son, Jeff, after he joined the postal service in 2016. Teri retired in May of 2021, where she joined “the last punch club” surrounded by her lifelong friends and son. Among her other passions, Teri always loved drawing and painting. She loved listening to records and always enjoyed a cold Coors Light. Travel was one of her favorite hobbies toohaving spent time across the US, hiking in the Rocky Mountains, spending lots of time in Florida and taking family trips to Tennessee. She visited Mexico and in 2011 she spent a month studying abroad in Greece, the trip of a lifetime. In recent years, she enjoyed the thrill of investing in the stock market, too. Teri didn’t let her stage 4 cancer diagnosis slow her down. She spent the last year spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren and sons. She enjoyed many walks at Stoney Creek, rediscovered her love of yoga, and took many trips to the beach. Despite her treatments, Teri still made travel a priority, getting to Florida, Wisconsin, and even Las Vegas to zip line. She was fondly known by the nurses at Karmanos for her beaming smile, her coloring books, and her comfy pajamas. Teri put up a hell of a fight. She was incredible. Though way too short, she lived an extraordinary life surrounded by love. Teri’s visitation will be held Sunday, October 24th from 3:00pm-9:00pm with a 7:00pm Prayer Service at Wujek- Calcaterra & Sons, Inc., 54880 Van Dyke Ave. at 25 Mile Rd.
