Stephen Blakeslee Fowler

FOWLER, STEPHEN B. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on April 12, 2022, at the age of 62 after a valiant battle with brain cancer. He was predeceased by his daughter, Kimberly, and father, Donald. He is survived by his loving wife Betsy, son Jeff (Kristen) Fowler, grandson David Fowler, mother Mary Jane (Ballard) Fowler, sister Barb (Jeff) Harrell, sister in law Cindy (Steve) Hamblen, brother in law Dr. Scott (Dr. Nancy Winters) Murray, uncle Dr. Richard B. (Sandy) Ballard and aunt Julia (the late Ken) Fowler. Nephews Andrew (Melissa) and Chris (Jordan) Hamblen and Joshua (Megan) and Brian (Kelsey)Harrell. Steve was born on June 27, 1959 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan to Donald and Mary Jane Fowler. The family moved to Romeo where Steve graduated high school in 1977. Steve was a well-rounded athlete and a true Romeo Bulldog, playing basketball, running cross country, and writing for the school newspaper. After high school, Steve attended Hillsdale College, earning a Bachelor degree with a major in Accounting. After completing his Bachelor degree, Steve earned his CPA license and a Master in Finance degree from Walsh College. Steve worked for several years in public accounting before joining his father at Inland Press and the Detroit Legal News in 1986. Steve worked in sales and served as the companies’ CFO for decades. Steve was kind, loving and generous to all, exemplifying his Christian values and what it means to be a follower of Christ in his daily interactions. There was no better provider than Steve, who always put his family and friends first and demonstrated what it means to be a servant leader. He loved to travel, attend sporting events, and read outside on a warm sunny day, however nothing gave him more joy than spending time with his family and friends. Memorial visitation will be held at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons Funeral Home, 54880 Van Dyke at 25 Mile Road (SHELBY TOWNSHIP) on Friday, May 13th from 3:00-9:00pm. Memorial service will be Saturday, May 14th at 11:00am also at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons.
