Stacy Lynn Brege

Stacy Lynn Kikoku Menda-Brege, aged 65, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on 2/15/2026 at 11:05 pm. She was born on 1/17/1961 in Chicago, Illinois to her parents Masao Menda and Dorothy Menda. She was a 1978 graduate of Luther North High School and would go on to become one of six women to earn their Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at Valparaiso University in 1982. She married David Brege on 5/30/1987 in Chicago, Illinois. She began her professional life as a mechanical engineer and built an accomplished career in the automotive industry, where she excelled in account management and new business development. She was a formidable and exceptional woman; a true force of nature whose presence filled every room she stepped foot in. Sharp, cerebral, and endlessly quick-witted, she carried a playful sass that made people laugh and adore her. Her hands were rarely still, whether knitting and crocheting gifts for those she loved, baking the most delicious pies, or tapping away at her phone games. She had a passion for adventure and adrenaline, traveling widely, racing Dragon Boats, and she spent her formative years competitively Figure Skating. She was deeply committed to cancer-related philanthropy and volunteer work; she was relentless in giving her time and energy with purpose and conviction to those less fortunate and to those struggling in health. Above all, she poured her entire life and every fiber of her soul into her family, loving fiercely, with unwavering loyalty, and a devotion that defined everything she did and everything that she was. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Menda (1932 – 1996). She is survived by her father, Masao Menda; her husband of 38 years, David Brege; her younger brother, Ken Menda; her oldest son, Justin Brege; her youngest son, Travis Brege; her many extended family members from the mainland US to Hawaii; and countless friends from every chapter of her life that love her deeply. Family and friends are invited to Wujek Calcaterra at 54880 Van Dyke Ave, Shelby Township, MI 48316, from 3pm – 8pm, on 2/21/2026, for a memorial service to reminisce and honor the life of Stacy.
