Sam Michael Komlenovich

KOMLENOVICH, Sam, M. One last friend at the party. Sam would ask us not to grieve. Hold on to your memories and celebrate his life. Sam joined his beloved Mary on February 2, 2021. He passed peacefully under the care of the wonderful nurses and doctors at Beaumont Hospital in Troy. Sam Komlenovich was born June 1, 1938. He is the second (middle) son of the late Marko and Eva. Sam is predeceased by his brother Donald and Nicholas. Sam lived many wonderful years in Clinton Township where he enjoyed hosting parties and swimming in his pool. Sam is survived by his sisters-in-law Bev Komlenovich and Rosanne Swaney, his nephews Mark Biondo, and Nicholas (Erica) Komlenovich, his niece Dana Withers, his great nephews Mark Komlenovich, and Tyler Cowart, his great nieces Miranda and Alyssa Komlenovich, and Gracyn Withers. Sam had many loves, Mary being first and foremost, closely followed by their dogs. Sam had a special place in his heart for his long time friends who became a part of his family. He always enjoyed a good game of football from his days playing in college to cheering for the current day Pittsburg Steelers. He looked forward to a good discussion about sports, especially football and basketball. Sam's interests did not end there, he was also and accomplished bowler. He would often talked fondly about his days with his family at Denby Lanes, his tournament bowling, and teaching his nieces how to become better bowlers. He also enjoyed golf and spent many years on the links with his friends ending his golf career on the Wednesday League at St. Clair Shores Golf Club. Sam had a few different professional careers over his lifetime, but none of them made him more proud that his years as a restaurant owner. He liked to share stories from the past about his staff, special events, special customers, and rebuilding. Remembering these days always brought a smile to his face. Amongst that wisdom, memories, and stories Sam shared with us we will remember the sayings Sam used routinely. We fondly call them "Sam-isms". These Sam-isms have seeped into our everyday conversations making us laugh a bit each time we use one. "Hold your seat", Sprinkle the green", "Why not, can't dance". Uncle Sam we will forever "Hold your seat". Love you and Thank you.
