Richard Marvin Lynn

Richard M. Lynn of Shelby Township, Michigan, beloved husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on June 14, 2026, with his loving wife Mary by his side. Rick was born on October 20, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Geraldine (McClure) Lynn and Marvin Lynn. He and Mary were married at the age of 18. While working full-time and raising his young family, Rick attended night school for twelve years, pursuing and earning a Bachelor of Science degree and later a Master’s degree from Central Michigan University. He had a fulfilling career as a Sales and Marketing Executive with Chrysler Corporation. He truly loved all things automotive. In retirement, he pursued new ventures, including The Centurions Program, an intensive, year-long worldview and leadership training initiative focusing on Christian theology, worldview, and cultural engagement. He was also a member of the Men of Integrity Bible Study group, a brotherhood he greatly enjoyed. Through the study of Scripture, sharing personal experiences, and meaningful fellowship, he built lasting connections that strengthened both his faith and his friendships. Rick always said balance was the key to a good life. He enjoyed being with his family at the treasured Lynn’s 4 Pines cottage at Higgins Lake, a magical place for all who spent time there, especially his granddaughter Chandler, whose name is proudly stenciled on his canoe. This is also where he found joy and peace watching his most beloved dogs, Shelby and Bailey run and play. He and Mary loved to travel, taking their two children, Rick and Lori, on vacations that were filled with fun, adventure, education, and unforgettable moments. Earthquakes, while in a high-rise hotel, being chased by buffalo, and surviving straight-line winds that dropped 60-foot jack pine trees all around the van while driving, are just a few of his favorite stories to tell. He later took Mary to Hawaii, Switzerland, Ireland, and Jerusalem. Sports were among Rick’s great passions. One of his favorite memories was taking his family, including his eldest grandson Noah at age two, to a Detroit Tigers game. Sitting along the first-base line, Noah was given a souvenir baseball by a ballboy, which he immediately threw back onto the field during play. Rick’s love of hockey also brought him many memorable experiences, including meeting Jacques Demers and longtime Red Wings anthem singer Karen Newman. He especially cherished watching his grandson Ryan play both ice and roller hockey. Rick leaves behind a strong legacy of faith, love, and family. His relationship with God was the foundation of his life and his marriage to Mary, a testament to unconditional love and commitment for 59 years. At Thanksgiving, just seven months ago, Rick got to meet and hold his first great-grandson, Benjamin, born to his eldest granddaughter, Justine, whom he endearingly nicknamed “Happy Face”. The Lynn family name continues through his youngest grandson, William Lynn, whom he lovingly called “W”. He will be deeply missed, though there is comfort in knowing he is now with the Lord he faithfully loved and served. His family will continue to carry forward the remarkable legacy he began. Rick is survived by his cherished wife of 59 years, Mary (Lord) Lynn; his two children, Richard W. Lynn and Lori (Lynn) Leduc (Keith); five grandchildren, Justine (Lynn) Bianchini (Ben), Chandler (Lynn) Lepre (Zach), Noah Leduc, Ryan Leduc, and William Lynn; one great-grandson, Benjamin Bianchini; sisters, Carol (Lynn) Castro (Joe, deceased), and Cyndie (Lynn) Holland (Darrell) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Geraldine (McClure) Lynn and Marvin Lynn, and his brother Dennis Lynn. A public celebration of Rick's life service will take place in the future.
