Phyllis Mae Thomas

THOMAS, PHYLLIS MAE Age 91 May 7, 2026. Born on June 6, 1934, in Covington, Kentucky to Orville and Minnie Vallandingham. Phyllis was known for her sweetheart and gentle soul. She devoted her life to her family, finding her greatest joy in nurturing three generations with love, warmth, and care. Phyllis was married to her beloved husband, the late Raymond Lee Thomas, for 46 years before his passing in 2003. Together, they built a family rooted in love, tradition, and unwavering support. Phyllis was a Christian woman of unwavering faith that guided every part of her life. She loved the Lord deeply. She lived her beliefs through quiet acts of compassion, steadfast prayer, and a generous spirit that touched everyone around her. Although she spent most of her life in Michigan her heart always remained in her “old Kentucky home”. She also took great pride in her country and had a lasting love for America throughout her life. She often shared stories of her upbringing and deep importance of faith and family. She was especially known for exceptional pie baking, a tradition lovingly shared with family and friends throughout the years. Phyllis also took great pride in caring for her home and was well known keeping both her house and yard beautifully maintained. She will lovingly be remembered by her three children: Terri (Ray) Rohe, Cindy (Jeff) Eliopoulos, Raymond Thomas and daughter in law Debbe King. She was proud grandmother of four grandchildren: Erika (Scott) Sierzenga, Celine (Brandon) Denean, Tyler (Natalie) Thomas, and Shelby Thomas. She is also a devoted great-Grandmother to Nathan, Jack, James, Audrey, Connor and Stella. Phyllis is also survived by her dearest sister, Carol (the late Larry) Ulrich, Sandra (the late Don) Ellis, Jack (Dorthalene & the late Clare) Vallandingham. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Orville Vallandingham, Jr. and Earl Vallandingham; and her sister Mildred Vallandingham. She is also remembered by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Visitation Saturday May 16, 2026 from 9:00am until time of 11:00am Funeral Service at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons 54880 Van Dyke at 25 Mile Road (SHELBY TOWNSHIP). Donations are welcome to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Samaritan's Purse. Interment Christian Memorial Cultural Center.
