In Loving Memory of Peter Giera Survived by wife Leona, children John, Michele and her husband Justin, Robert and his wife Jerri. He was loving grandfather to his five grandchildren, Jordan, Dylan, Devon, Chloe, and Lily. Peter was a husband father and grandfather. He was designer at Chrysler and the owner of Leona’s Florist. He was a craftsman and a handyman, who could create, repair, and improve just about anything. He was also a soldier, a storyteller, and a man who appreciated the good things in life—especially good food, good drink, and a good story. During his time in the Army, stationed in France, Peter experienced countless adventures. Some were carefully planned, some were completely accidental, and a few may have grown a little more exciting with each retelling. Though he was there for perhaps three years, but he brought home enough stories to fill fifty. For 62 wonderful years, Peter shared his life with his beloved wife, Leona. Their marriage was built on love, laughter, and a lifetime of shared experiences. Together, they created a home, raised a family, faced life’s challenges, celebrated its joys, and built a legacy that will continue through the generations. He was a devoted father to his three children John, Michele, and Robert, and a proud, loving grandfather to his five grandchildren, Jordan, Dylan, Devon, Chloe, and Lily. His family was his greatest accomplishment and deepest source of joy. Peter also had a personality that filled a room. He was funny, opinionated, generous, and never afraid to share a story—or a thoughtful opinion about how something should be done. He brought humor into everyday life and had a gift for making ordinary moments memorable. Even when he was being stubborn, he was simply being Peter, and that was part of what made him so unforgettable. Peter leaves behind memories that will bring laughter through the tears, adventures that will be retold for years, and a family who will carry his love, lessons, and legacy forward. His wife, children, and grandchildren will always remember the unmistakable way he made life more interesting. They will see him in the things he built, the skills he passed down, and the love he gave so freely in his own unique way. Though Peter has left this world, his legacy remains—in the family he cherished, the home he helped create, the work he brought to life, the people he helped, and every story told in his honor. Peter will live on in everyone he ever met, carried in their memories, their laughter, their stories, and the lasting impression he left on their lives. His presence will be felt and carried forward by the people who were fortunate enough to call him husband, Dad, Grandpa, and friend. Rest easy, Peter. You were the man. You were the myth. Funeral Wednesday instate 10am at St. Ephrem Catholic Church 38900 Dodge Park at 17 Mile Rd until time of Mass 11am. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery.
