HUELLMANTEL, Paul G. Age 80. February 6, 2024. Dear son of the late Louis and the late Gladys. Cherished brother of the late Lois (the late Stanley) Nelson, the late Kathryn (the late Harry) Pinegar, Bill (Beverly) Huellmantel, Nancy (the late David) Reiss and the late Sister Helen Huellmantel, SSJ. Beloved uncle of Jan (Greg) Hill, the late Bernard Nelson, Mike Pinegar, the late Ken Pinegar, William "Bo" (Jennifer) Pinegar, Patty Jones, Dan Pinegar, Karen Pinegar, Christine (the late Jim) Shepherd, Cheryl (Scott) Sharpe, Mike (Julie) Huellmantel, Kelly (Fred) Boonstra, Jennifer (Troy) Petrowski, Rick (Suzy) Raymor, Beth (Tim) Schuele, Rob (Karon) Raymor, William (Debbie) Raymor and Matthew Raymor, and the late niece-in-law Laura Huellmantel. Paul was loved by his many extended family and friends, including several great-nieces and nephews. Instate Monday, February 12, 2024 10am until time of 11am Mass at SS. John & Paul Catholic Church, 7777 W. 28 Mile Rd. (at Campground), Washington Twp. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Born to Louis and Gladys Huellmantel in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, he was the youngest of six children. Paul lived his early years in Warren, attending Ascension grade school and graduating from Lincoln High School. He drove a forklift at the Chrysler plant in Warren, beginning each day very early, often making the coffee for all. Upon retirement, Paul moved to Shelby Township near Stony Creek Metropark. He enjoyed good health and became an avid walker in the park, making friends with others who he would meet with to walk the six-mile loop around the lake each morning. He sometimes made the same loop multiple times a day. Paul always had a wave and hello for those he met on the path. In his later years, daily walks with his brother Bill were a gift they shared together. Paul was a bit mischievous, especially in his youth. He would entertain his family with stories of playing poker and pool in his younger days. Later in life Paul enjoyed playing pinochle a couple times each week. Paul loved motorcycles and cars, owning various Corvettes and BMW bikes through the years. Paul studied finances and was a savvy investor. His nieces and nephews always appreciated his sage advice about money and other topics. Faith and family were central to Paul’s life. He attended Catholic mass two or three times a week and said the rosary daily. Paul was a devoted son who cared for his parents into their old age. The numerous photos in his home tell the story of a man who loved his parents and siblings deeply and enjoyed many happy times with them. An annual highlight for Paul was the Huellmantel Family Reunion he and his brother and sisters organized each summer. Paul enjoyed connecting with his nieces and nephews and was always the first one out to the parking lot to greet family members and help carry items to the pavilion. Paul was keenly interested in the people in his life. He maintained a number of friendships from his youth and formed many new friendships in his retirement years, including his Stony Creek walking friends, pinocle groups, neighbors, and church friends. Paul carried a playful charm with him throughout his life. He was prone to banter and had an endearing twinkle in his eye. He will be missed by all who knew him.
