FARAH, Michele, Gorjeanne (Barkoot), born May 22, 1944, passed peacefully on March 14, 2023 at the age of 78. Beloved wife of the late John Farah (2021). Loving mother of Christine Marie (Gregory) Lebold, John Kalil (Noelle) Farah, and the late Therese Anne. Proud grandmother of Morgan, Shane, Isabella, Abigail, and Reese. Predeceased by sisters Lorraine Matter (2017) and Patricia Petri (2021). “Mikki” was known for her wisdom, positive attitude, resilience, and joyful disposition. Her giving nature was at the core of who she was. She was a stay-at-home mom who wanted her children to have a St. Mary’s education. She sacrificed a great deal to make that happen and dedicated her life to raising her family. Nothing was more important to her than family: she rooted her children in her and her husband’s Arabic traditions and raised them to value life, to see the best in others, to respect and show love to all of God’s children, and to rely on faith and family during the best and worst of times. Her best friends were her sister-in-laws (Toni, Olga, & Rita), sisters, as well as Margrette Farah & Carol Joseph. She could be seen on any Saturday packing up peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as she spent hours exploring garage sales with her buddies, with a slew of kids in the back seat. Music fueled her soul and surrounded her, wherever she went. Not many Nana’s pull up with the bass blasting from their car…our Nana did. After raising her family, she became a certified nail technician and later embarked on a career in marketing in the health insurance industry. She worked her way up to be the Director of Marketing and part owner of The Timberland Group, Royal Oak, Michigan. She was very proud of her late-in-life accomplishment and was most proud to buy her first ever new car on her own. Although Alzheimer’s claimed her, and both of her sisters, Mikki’s spirit could not be dimmed or masked by the disease. Her eyes, smile, and feisty independence showed through, to the end. We thank the caretakers at Golden Haven in Warren, Michigan: especially Ellen Angeles and Joanne Medianero and Shawndy Brown at AccentCare hospice, for loving her, caring for her, and being responsible for her peaceful end. Her legacy of love will continue with the generations and her fierce love of family, and sacrifices, will never be forgotten. Visitation Monday March 20th from 3-9pm with a 7pm Sharing of Memories service at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile Rd). Funeral Tuesday March 21st, instate 11am at St. Peter (Mt. Clemens) Catholic Church 95 Market Street, until time of Mass 11:30am.
