Michael Paul Nako. August 30, 2025. Age 71. Beloved and devoted husband of Janet for 45 cherished years. Loving father of Michelle (Cameron) Nako-McPhail and Natalie (Paul) Nako-Paglia. Proud and adored grandpa of Lily and Rina. Dear brother of Rosemarie (the late Ronald) Wybo, Walter (Mary) Nako, and David (Suzan) Nako. Treasured uncle of many loving nieces and nephews. He was a devoted and loyal friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Of all his accomplishments, the one he cherished most was being a husband and father. He was always there to fix anything - big or small - and never hesitated to lend a hand. His favorite thing to do was take things apart - whether old or new - and put them back together exactly the way they should be. He did everything for his family, showing his love not just in words, but through the countless ways he cared, supported, and provided for his wife and girls. He was the most patient, calm, and quiet man, leading by example and filling our lives with steady love and strength. He began his career at General Motors in 1972, right out of high school, working at the Tech Center in Warren. Dedicated to advancing his career, he took courses and earned degrees at both Macomb Community College and Delta College, ultimately receiving a Mechanical Engineering degree with a specialization in HVAC. Over the years, he worked on Corvette concept cars, often bringing home his projects with pride to share. His work also took him to different parts of the country - spending summers in Arizona and winters in New York. One of his proudest career accomplishments was serving on the autonomous group, helping to develop Cadillac’s Super Cruise technology at the Milford Proving Grounds. Throughout his career, he traveled to many places, but his favorite memories were the summers spent in Arizona when his wife and girls could join him while he worked at the Mesa Proving Grounds. He was deeply proud of his work and always said he had a fun and interesting job. He often remarked that he would retire once he reached 50 years at GM, a milestone he proudly achieved in June of 2023. He cherished his retirement years, especially the time spent with his granddaughters. He loved helping his daughters and sons-in-law with their homes, always ready to tackle any project - big or small - and see it through to the end. Retirement also gave him the joy of traveling to countless places with his wife and their beloved travel buddies, creating memories that will be treasured forever. On cruises, you could often find him enjoying a bourbon and water with three olives, alongside his best friend Bill. What he loved most, though, was simply being with his wife - whether planning their next adventure or watching their grandbabies together. Those moments were his greatest joy. He was the kindest, most calm, relaxed, soft spoken easy-going man. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to his family. He will be missed more than words can ever express. Funeral Saturday Instate from 11:30am until time of 12pm Mass at St. Isidore Church, 18201 23 Mile Rd., Macomb, MI 48042. Memorial contributions are appreciated to the American Heart Association.
