Mary L Zinkivach

Mary Zinkivach, a devoted mother, homemaker, and true pillar of strength, passed away peacefully of natural causes on August 09, 2026, at the remarkable age of 98. Born on June 18, 1928, Mary lived a long, wonderfully healthy life defined by her active spirit and unconditional love for her family. As a selfless homemaker, she sacrificed immensely to ensure her five children had a traditional upbringing centered on faith and the nightly dinner table. Her greatest legacy is her family. Every holiday and birthday was a joy-filled celebration that she anchored with pure happiness. Her four children will forever live by the wise blueprint she left behind: to work hard, to do it right the first time, to always do your best, to not worry if it cannot be changed, and to never give up. Her remarkable health was a testament to her active spirit, and feistiness; she loved daily walks, exercising, dancing, cooking for her family, reading the daily newspaper, doing jigsaw and word search puzzles, playing checkers, spending time with her family and entertainment, including her favorite television shows, Blue Bloods, Little House on the Prairie, and Dancing with the Stars. She also enjoyed tending to her flowers in her backyard, which her late son Carl lovingly filled with her favorite flowers each spring and summer. Her favorite rose bushes stood as a perfect reflection of her own life: resilient, feisty, strong-willed, elegant, and beautiful. Mary was the loving wife of the late Andrew Zinkivach for 31 years. She is survived by her four loving children. She was the cherished mother of Darlene (the late George) Korczowski, Sandra (Dan) Tymczyn, her late son Carl Zinkivach, Patricia (Paul) Pantelli, and Bonnie Bassa-Zinkivach. She was the grandmother of Doreen, Daniel, George Jr, Andrew, Aaron, Jason, and Christopher. Great-grandmother of Arthur, Shawn, Gabriel, Amelia, expecting baby on the way, and a community of friends who will miss her spunkiness, her radiant grace, and her vibrant personality. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2026 from 3-8pm at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, located at 36900 Schoenherr Rd at Metro Parkway (16 Mile), where a slideshow of her life and music will be shared. Instate will be on August 17, 2026 at 9:30 am until the time of Mass 10 am at St. Raymond Catholic Church, located at 20103 JoAnn Ave, Detroit, MI 48205.
