KOMENDAT, Mary A. March 29, 2022. Age 85. Beloved wife of Joseph for 63 incredible years. Loving mother of Karen (Stan) Pruett, Linda (Paul) Meldrum, Lori (Robert) Schindler and Paul (Julie Labno). Proud and adored grandmother of Michael, David, Megan, Kaitlyn, Jacqueline, and Mary. Beloved sister of Daniel (Susan) Connor and Margaret (Conrad) Brzustewicz. Mary met the love of her life at a dance in 1957. She was married to Joe for 63 years. Mary enjoyed cooking. She made the best cabbage rolls. No one in the family could make them as well as she could. She also made fruitcakes at Thanksgiving and wrapped them in cheese cloth soaked in wine until a week before Christmas. These fruitcakes were sent to family in New York and Pennsylvania. They were the best! Mary was very social. She loved spending time with her friends at her book and diet clubs. Twice a week she spent time swimming at the Warren High School pool. Traveling with her husband and kids was a joy for her. Mary especially liked her trips to Europe and the Alaskan cruise. She traveled to Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, Illinois, and Texas with family. She worked for over 40 years as a registered nurse at Holy Cross Hospital in cardiac care and as a I.V. nurse. Then she worked at General Motors Industrial Health doing cancer screenings. Mary loved going to the family cottage. She loved the boat rides and swimming in the lake. Her favorite time at the cottage was Fourth of July when she would watch the boat parade and barbeque with family. Visitation Sunday, April 3rd from 3-8pm at Wujek - Calcaterra & Sons Inc., 36900 Schoenherr Rd. at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). Funeral Monday, April 4th, instate 9:30am at St. Veronica Church 21440 Universal Ave. Eastpointe, MI. until time of Mass 10am Memorial contributions are appreciated to the Alzheimer's Association.
