Marie Catherine Roos

ROOS, Marie Catherine (née Bommarito), of Sterling Heights, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on April 26, 2026, at the age of 85. Marie was born on January 9, 1941, to Alfonso and Catherine Bommarito in Terrasini, Palermo, on the island of Sicily, Italy. She carried her Italian heritage with pride throughout her life, especially through her love of food, family, and tradition. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfonso and Catherine Bommarito. Beloved wife of Donald Roos Sr. for 65 wonderful years. Devoted and loving mother of Cathy (Dave) Tabacchini, Donald (Sue) Roos Jr., Laura (Joe) Jordan, and Eric Roos. Cherished grandmother of Alesha, Donnie III (Annie), Jessica (Michael), Joe (Chelsea), Derek, Sarah, Danielle (Joe), and Nicholas (Jordyn). Proud great-grandmother of 13. Dear sister of Josephine (the late Richard) Garon. Marie was also preceded in death by her sisters, Sarah (John) Baisley and Angie Cossar. Marie dedicated many years to caring for her family as a stay-at-home mother before going on to work for 35 years at Medilodge Nursing Home. Marie will be remembered for the love she poured into her family, especially through her cooking and baking. Sundays were never complete without her homemade spaghetti sauce, and she took great joy in baking traditional Italian cookies. She was incredibly detail-oriented and took great pride in her home, always ensuring everything—inside and out—was kept just the way she liked it. She also loved playing cards during family gatherings and had a vibrant spirit, enjoying dancing and listening to music, especially during holidays and celebrations with those she loved most. Her warmth, strength, and devotion to her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered Visitation Thursday from 3:00pm-8:00pm with a 7:00pm Rosary at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc. 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). Instate Friday from 9:00am until time of the 9:30am Mass at St Martin de Porres Catholic Parish Church, 31555 Hoover Rd, Warren, MI 48093. Interment at White Chapel Cemetery.
