Margaret Rita Miller

Our dear mother Margaret Rita Miller passed away peacefully on November 3, 2022, at the age of 100. Born in 1922, Margaret “Peggy” Wolfbauer was the second eldest of five Wolfbauer children. She was raised in Detroit and had interesting stories of how the family stretched their dollars during the depression. She was preceded in death by her husband Laverne Miller and sons Mark Miller (Phyllis) and Jeffery Miller (Nancy). She is survived by sons Dennis Miller (Barbara), Gary Miller (Sandy), Gregory Miller (Theresa), and Brian Miller (Cindy). She had 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and 3 step-grandchildren. Peggy met LaVerne at the roller rink. Eventually, they married, had six boys, and went on to celebrate over 50 years together. She was a devoted mother to her six boys and always there when they needed her. She worked at different jobs in the early years while raising them. She also helped care for her own aging mother, Anna Wolfbauer, who lived to be 103 years old. When she wasn’t busy babysitting her grandchildren, Peggy loved shopping! And you can bet she was going to get the best deal on anything she bought. Peggy was always stylish with her latest bargains and her coordinating jewelry. She loved living near Lakeside Mall and continued to drive there and to church until she finally gave up her license at age 93. Remembering her giving heart, Peggy was always excited to cook for her visitors well into her 90’s. There was always lunch waiting for her sons’ arrival at her condo and the grandchildren looked forward to dropping in for her famous French toast breakfasts. For many years she drove to the bowling alley with sandwiches for her sons’ bowling team. After many years of independence, she became a well-loved resident of the Village of East Harbor Assisted Living for the last five years of her life. A Memorial Gathering will be held November 18th, 9:30am at St Therese of Lisieux Parish, 48115 Schoenherr Rd, Shelby Twp, until time of 10am Memorial Mass. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Margaret's name are appreciated.
