Margaret Yvonne Lewis, 86, of Washington Township, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on August 31, 2023.. Most beloved wife for 61 years of the late Robert B Lewis. Survived by her daughters Robin (Lawrence) Pump and Melissa D. Lewis and her son Douglas B Lewis. Loving Dumma to Alexa (Aditya) Ariazi. Sister-in-Law of Joan (Grant) Cornell. Beloved aunt to Susan (Rick) Kellogg, Micki (Robert) Shea, Cathleen Cornell, Candace (Filemon) Ruiz, Cristin (Jonathan) Tarr and Craig Cornell. Also survived by many great nieces and nephews. Loving caretaker of her faithful cats, Diego and Misty. Margaret, nicknamed Snooby, was the youngest of four children of the late Nestor and Margaret Carion of Detroit, Michigan. Sister to the late Phyllis Provencal, Elizabeth Patrickus and Robert Carion. She was born and raised within a close-knit and extended family of characters. Young Snooby fondly recalled going to the neighborhood bar with her father and possessed many of his personality traits. Always glamorous, she was a beautician by trade. Her specialty was permanent hair waves, a craft she liked to practice on her straight-haired children. Margaret met Robert Lewis when she was 20 years old on a blind date. The nicest man she ever met; they were married on September 3, 1960. Bob had inherited the TB Lewis company and Marge supported him in building a thriving business on 51/2 and Gratiot, Detroit, Michigan. Marge was lucky enough to live the snowbird lifestyle with Bob in Florida at the Lakeside condominium community for the last four decades of her life. She enjoyed playing a vital role within the community social committee and was always happy serving donuts, making coffee and planning parties for the well entertained residents. The quintessential social butterfly, Marge loved spending time with her friends and family. Always the best listening ear, she comforted so many with her understanding heart and sparkling wit. Whether it be around her kitchen table, pool, or on the phone– Marge was the one we all wanted to talk to. To know her was to love her, and she will be dearly missed. In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to “His Table” care of the Romeo Methodist Church or the Capuchin Soup Kitchen. Visitation Friday 3-9pm.
