Margaret Theresa Kozak Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Margaret was born in Detroit, Michigan to the parents of Joseph and Margaret Forray. She was the third of three daughters, Elizabeth and Leona, respectively. She attended Nativity grade school until the family moved to Warren. From that period she attended St. Clemens until graduating high school in 1961. Margaret married Nicholas Kozak in 1963 and had two children Lisa and Paul. She established employment with Macomb County Government in 1982, where she worked at the Senior Citizens Nutrition Program, Meals on Wheels, ascending to project director. Margaret retired from the county in 2004. Being a loving and devoted mother, wife, and grandmother, she continued with those endeavors. With the birth of her only grandson, Nicholas, born to Lisa, Margaret expanded her horizons. Nicholas was a very special person. The devotion and loving care extended to him was unmatched. Margaret wanted Nicholas to know that “she loved him into infinity “. Margaret accomplished many goals in her life but family life was of the utmost importance. Her care and belief in others led her to a short stint in running for public office at the county level. Through her employment, she established only the second nutrition comigrate site in the U.S for Native Americans, which won her a national award. She became an advocate for the various Native Americans Nations. After retiring, she continued her love of gardening, floral arrangements, photography, nature, and traveling. Being a Pieces person, she loved the cities on the water traveling extensively to the Southern Coastal States. However, once becoming involved with the Native Americans her attention turned to the Southwest travel. She hiked and traveled the majority of the National Parks and Monuments in Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Southern California. Margaret never sought recognition, nor compensation for her loving acts of kindness and caring, only the reward of the act itself was its own fulfillment. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her. She is survived by her husband, Nicholas, Lisa (daughter), Paul (son), Nicholas (grandson), Leona VanSteenkiste (sister) and Timothy Kozak (brother-in-law). Margaret passionately loved life and her family. Her void can never be replaced.
