Born in Detroit, Michigan, she spent most of her life in the Detroit area, living in Redford Township, Warren, and Washington Township. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and a dedicated educator whose life centered around her family, her faith, and her love of teaching. Madeline attended Redford Township High School and continued her education at Wayne State University, where she earned both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Education degree. She devoted 38 years to teaching in the Warren Woods School District. Although she taught several grade levels, including high school, she especially enjoyed teaching third grade. She believed it was important for children to become confident readers before moving on to fourth grade, and she took great pride in helping her students develop that foundation. Madeline truly enjoyed her teaching career and was a lifetime member of both the National Education Association and the Michigan Education Association. She was a woman of faith and was active in her church community. She was involved at St. Martin de Porres in Warren, Michigan, and after moving to Washington Township, became a parishioner at St. John and Paul Church. She enjoyed visiting the library and reading. An avid reader, she found great pleasure in books and maintained a lifelong love of learning. She also loved to cook, entertain and travel. Above all, Madeline cherished her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Allen Mousty; her daughter, Alicia Mousty Goodman, and her husband, Tom Goodman, of East Lansing, Michigan; and her son, Brian Mousty, and his wife, Jaime Gray Mousty, of Raleigh, North Carolina. She was a proud grandmother to Jason Samet, Rachel Samet, Alex Mousty, Olivia Mousty, and Evan Mousty. Her family brought her tremendous joy, including her great-grandson Archie, son of Jason Samet and Serenity Skillman. She was also proud of her step-grandson, Joseph Goodman, who became a doctor. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 3-7pm and again on Friday, November 6, 2026 from 10am until time of 11am funeral service at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc., 54880 Van Dyke (at 25 Mile Rd.), Shelby Township.
