Louis Anthony Palmieri

Louis “Louie” Palmieri, age 87, passed away on October 1, 2026. Louie was the cherished husband of Marilyn Palmieri for 61 wonderful years and the devoted father of Stephanie (Brian) and Cassandra (David). He was a proud grandfather to Anna and a beloved brother, uncle, and friend to many. To his many nieces and nephews, Louie was a special uncle whose presence, laughter, and sense of humor brought joy to all who were fortunate enough to know him. Born on May 4, 1939, in Highland Park, Michigan, Louie was the son of the late Fernando and Annunziata (Fortuna) Palmieri. On September 4, 1965, he married the love of his life, Marilyn Vrbanac, beginning a beautiful journey together that spanned 61 years. Their marriage was a testament to a lifetime of love, devotion, and family. Louie was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving his country with honor. His strong values, dedication, and deep-rooted Italian heritage shaped who he was and how he lived his life. A man of deep Catholic faith, Louie remained active in his church and faith throughout his life. He was also passionate about preserving and celebrating his Italian heritage and served as president of the Italian Cultural Center, a role that reflected his pride in his roots and his love of bringing people together. Louie had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for making people laugh. His quick wit, infectious laughter, and warm personality made every moment spent with him memorable. He was also an avid marathon runner, demonstrating the determination, discipline, and perseverance that carried through so many aspects of his life. Whether sharing a laugh with family, enjoying a glass of his favorite Carlo Rossi Paisano wine, or spending time with the people he loved, Louie found happiness in life's simple pleasures. Above all, Louie treasured his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, laughter, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of his wife, daughters, granddaughter, siblings, nieces, nephews, and all who knew and loved him. Though he will be deeply missed, the stories, smiles, and laughter he shared will forever remain a part of the lives he touched. May Louie rest in the peace of Christ, welcomed into the loving arms of the Lord. May his family find comfort in their faith and in the beautiful memories of a life so deeply loved. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America in Louie's memory. Visitation and Funeral Services Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc., 36900 Schoenherr Road at Metro Parkway (16 Mile Road), Sterling Heights, Michigan. Louie will lie in state on Monday, October 5, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 44633 Utica Road, Utica, Michigan. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
