ROTHENBERGER, Linda G. Age 78. May 27, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Walter, for 47 years until his passing in 2024. Cherished mother of Marco (Carolyn) Liolli and Chris (Terri Proben) Liolli. Adored grandmother of Sophia Liolli, Grace Liolli and Maggie Liolli. Loving sister of Alfred (Sandy) Brys. Dear aunt of Erin (Dave) Nafziger, and Amie (Paul) Betz. Also survived by great nieces and nephews Caroline and Luke Nafziger, Noah, Emma, and Ellie Betz as well as her dearest friend for over 65 years, Linda Ghadaf. Preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Adelaide Brys, and Walter's parents Florentin and Barbara Rothenberger and brother Harold Rothenberger. Linda G. Rothenberger (nee Brys) was born in 1948 in the town of Mt. Clemens, Michigan. Soon after her birth she was baptized as a member into the Catholic Church which would heavily influence and guide her throughout her entire spiritual life. She attended Catholic School at St. Gertrude in St. Clair Shores and later with husband Walter became a very active longtime member at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Detroit until its closure in 2009 when they joined St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fraser, Michigan. They were also parish members of the Lutheran Church of the Cross in Port Charlotte, FL. Linda spent the majority of her professional career with Elias Brothers Corporation at their Corporate Headquarters in Warren, MI. Linda and Walter devoted many years of fellowship to the Metro Detroit German American Cultural Center and were also members and frequent attendees of the various German American satellite clubs in both Michigan and Florida. Linda would spend 47 wonderful years with her beloved husband Walter. She was a fiercely devoted mother to sons, Marco and Chris and would always enjoy attending high school and college football games for Marco and marching band competitions for Chris. Linda and Walter enjoyed Sunday drives through the beautiful Michigan countryside and would always ensure that they picked up fresh apples from their favorite farm each fall. They would enjoy time spent with their precious Labrador dogs Sonta, Jet, and Brando. In 1991 after a very thorough and well-planned reconnaissance trip , Linda and Walter purchased a home in Port Charlotte, Florida and would spend the next 31 years enjoying their Michigan winters there. With family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers, Linda and Walter’s kindness was evident on a daily basis. They were well known for leaving bowls of water and food out to feed the neighborhood cats. Linda will be truly missed by all whose lives she has touched. Memorial visitation Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 3-8pm with memorial service 6:30pm at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc. 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile).
