EALBA, Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Jesse. June 24, 2025. Age 73. Beloved husband of Amy Malinski-Ealba. Adored father of David (Andrea), Bryan, Jessica (Matthew) Yascolt, Justin, and Haley (Alex) Hughes. Proud grandfather of Miles, Carson and Dianna. Loving brother of Robert (Denise), honorary sister Karen Berman and the late Mary Jo Kyriacou. Dear uncle of Erin Bumann, Lauren Harris and brother-in-law of Tina (Dave) Pritchard. Predeceased by his parents Jesse and Josefine. “Kenny” Ealba as he was known to his friends and family led an abundant and full life, not without its trials. A parochial school student from grade school through college he was a lifelong Catholic and devoted father. Born in Newfoundland, Canada, Ken and his siblings were born all over the world to Jesse and Josefine Ealba during his father’s military career. After the passing of their father, the family settled in Portchester, New York where Ken found his love for music, playing in club bands. Most noteably “The Entertainers” which yielded a 33 1/3” record which is still enjoyed today! After graduating high school, Ken moved to Detroit to attend the University of Detroit alongside his brother Robert. Here he forged friendships that lasted a lifetime with his fraternity brothers in The Saint Francis Club. Ken graduated from U of D with a Bachelors of Science and settled and worked in the metro Detroit area for the rest of his life. Ken was a fighter, not only the golden gloves he fought in his youth in New York, but the battles he fought when sickness threatened his life. He overcame stage 3b lung cancer in the 90’s when the prognosis was grim, he survived a heart attack and triple bypass a decade later. He battled cancer that recurred two more times in the decades that followed and 5 other heart complications yet triumphed! He was a strong man fighting to live for his family knowing his work was not yet done. We loved him for it. Ken enjoyed travel, Italy and Florida (his two favorite places) were always something he looked forward to. He enjoyed life to the fullest with his wife Amy and was of the sentiment “the more the merrier.” His home always the center of family celebrations, he will be dearly missed. A memorial will be held Friday August 1, 2025 - 10 a.m. at St. Paul of Tarsus Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to American Heart Association in Kenneth's honor.
