Kenneth Walter Burns

BURNS, Kenneth Walter. May 16, 2026. Age 77. Kenneth “Ken” was born in Detroit, Michigan, and grew up in Ferndale. He attended St. James High School, home of “The Dales,” where he served as captain of the football team and began his exemplary, lifelong leadership. It was there that he met the love of his life, beginning a marriage that would span 57 wonderful years. After high school, Ken joined the United States Marines in 1967. He later earned his bachelor’s degree from Walsh College and went on to build a long and successful career in financial planning at Equitable. As he approached his 50th year in the profession, Ken remained deeply committed to helping others plan for their futures. Ken had a lifelong passion for golf and enjoyed playing in various destinations around the world. He was a dedicated member of Indianwood Golf & Country Club for over 30 years, where he won multiple member‑guest championships and achieved a hole‑in‑one. Among his proudest golf memories was winning the PGA Golf Club member‑guest tournament in Port St. Lucie, Florida, alongside Patrick. Ken also embraced his love of Corvettes, going on to complete the Ron Fellows Corvette Driving School. Though Ken loved his hobbies, his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends. Ken will be remembered for his dedication, warmth, sense of humor, and the lasting impact he made on everyone fortunate enough to know him. As Ken would always say, Au revoir Beloved husband of Eileen for 57 years. Loving father of Marcy (Joe), Coco (Teo), and Patrick (Carolyn). Proud grandfather of Andrew, Mitchell, Logan (Keri), John, Molly, Katie, and Erin and great-grandfather of Nora Eileen. Dearest brother of Jack, Nancy, Kelly, and Brian (Pam). He is survived by his lifelong professional anchor and friend, Rose Ann, and his longtime assistant, Candy. A Memorial Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 21st from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons 54880 Van Dyke at 25 Mile Rd. (SHELBY TOWNSHIP). A Morning Visitation will take place on Friday, May 22nd from 10:00am until the time of the Service at 11:00am at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons. The family would like to invite everyone immediately following the funeral service to a luncheon at The Wyndgate Golf Country Club at 1975 West Gunn Road Rochester Hills MI 48306.
