Judith Kaye Loehr

Judy was born in Ludington, Michigan October 30, 1954. Her father was a Wheelsman for C&O Car ferries, and her mother raised three girls on Iris Road. (In later years, Judy and Mark bought a place near Iris Rd, enjoying their retreat year round. They loved to go to Ludington.) Her mother was remarried to Angus Murphy after her father passed away. This added three stepbrothers and one stepsister to the family. So the new family of nine shared one bathroom! Amazing! She was baptized and entered the family of God when she was very young. Judy attended Michigan School for the Deaf and Graduated in 1973. She then Attended Gallaudet University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics in May of 1978. She taught the Home Economics class at New Jersey Katzenbach School for 8 years before deciding to switch to a career as a Computer Programmer. She started her work as a programmer at EDS. Eventually, she decided to become full time mom after leaving EDS. Later she taught American Sign Language classes at Macomb Community College. She met the love of her life, Mark Loehr, during Deaf Awareness Month at the mall. They began their long and happy marriage on August 26, 1994. God blessed their marriage with a son, Matthew, born on July 27, 1999. Judy loved to travel with Mark. Recently this included trips to Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. They celebrated their 30 year wedding anniversary on Mackinac Island last summer. Her faith in Christ was the foundation of her identity. She knew by faith she was a child of God. She was confirmed in the Lutheran Church by Pr. Thomas Dunseth. There she faithfully received the body and blood of her Lord Jesus. She also greatly enjoyed the fellowship of her brothers and sisters in Christ. Judy always lit up the room when she entered. She had a great way of connecting with people and showing her care and compassion. She was easy going and ready to be flexible and make plans with friends and family. Her calming presence always made people feel at ease. She was a great wife and a loving mother, giving our family joy and gladness. Our dear Lord Jesus, preparing a room for her, has now brought her to the home that was prepared for her by his death and resurrection. She will be dearly missed until that day when all sorrow will be swallowed up by joy in the resurrection. Visitation Thursday, May 22nd 4-9pm at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc. (Shelby Township) 54880 VanDyke at 25 Mile Rd. Instate Friday 9:30am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Utica until Service, 10:00am. Interment Glen Eden East Cemetery.
