Joseph Anthony Casanova

Joseph A. Casanova, passed away on June 11th, 2024, at the age of 84. He was born on February 9th,1940, in Detroit, MI, son of Joseph Casanova and Rose Palazzolo. Joe was married to the love of his life, Kathleen (nee Heffron), for 44 years. His family was the light of his life. He was a loving and devoted father to Ryan (Amanda) Casanova and Kaitlyn Casanova. His kids were his pride and joy. He loved watching Katie’s performances and taking Ryan to car shows. He adored his grandsons, Kellen and Graham, and never missed an opportunity to snuggle with them. Seeing them play was always the highlight of his day. Watching his family grow up made him an incredibly proud father and grandfather. Joe is survived by his siblings, Michael (Lee Ann) Casanova and Roselyn (Bill) Breisacher and many loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Peter Casanova and infant brother, Frank Casanova. Joe was very close to his siblings, and even though he couldn’t get out much in the past few years, he always made a point to call his family and friends as often as he could and remind them that he loved them. Joe had the kindest soul and had a warm and welcoming heart. He loved all animals including the bunnies in the backyard and birds at the birdfeeder, but he especially loved dogs. His dachshunds, Odie and Chelsea, were his special buddies. He was known to confidently put ketchup on everything. Pasta and his mother’s chicken broth also held a special place in his heart. Joe did not love vegetables but would always begrudgingly eat them for Katie. Joe served in the U.S. Army before beginning a career at Ford Motor Company. He was a car guy through and through. Joe retired from Ford after three decades. He cherished all of the cars that he owned and was known to keep each window sticker. He enjoyed looking through pictures and reminiscing over his favorite ones. Joe was always on the hunt for the next car and enjoyed taking Ryan to the dealership to go shopping. He took meticulous care of each one. Please join the family for a visitation on Monday, June 17th from 3-9pm with a 7pm Rosary service at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile Rd). The funeral will be Tuesday, June 18th, with instate at 9am, at St. Blase Catholic Church, 12151 15 Mile Rd (Between Schoenherr & Dodge Park) until time of Mass at 9:30am. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery following.
