John Thomas Quintal

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Thomas Quintal, age 55 who passed away on March 18th, 2025 after a courageous battle with colon cancer surrounded by his loving family. John is the beloved husband of Mary for 30 years. Loving and proud father of Elise, Grace, John Jr., Audrey, Ryan, and Kelly. John is survived by his brother Paul, mother-in-law Jan, sisters-in-law Katie (Dupuis) and Bernice (Munk), brother-in-law Chuck and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father (Ray) and mother (Carol), grandmothers (Mary and Orma), grandfathers (Frank and Leon), father-in-law (Thomas Barnes) and brother-in-law (Thomas Jr.). John was born in Royal Oak, MI on Dec 23rd, 1969. He enrolled at Michigan State University in 1988 and studied business, he graduated from Walsh College with a BA in finance. He has had a successful sales career over the past 30 years, working at NBD Bank, Magicline, NYCE, U.S. Bank and the last 17 years at Fiserv where he had many co-workers that became lifelong friends. John is a Sparty at heart and a die-hard Lions fan. He was a proud season ticket holder and loved going to the games with his lifelong childhood friends. John loved playing golf, cards, traveling, attending concerts especially his favorite Pearl Jam, a good old fashioned, bonfires with his kids, taking walks with his wife and annual Glen Lake and Boyne Mt. ski trips with his extended family, but most of all he adored being with his wife and 6 kids. John had 6 kids in 4 years and took to fatherhood like a fish in water, he was so interested and involved in each one of his kids' life's and had a special relationship with each child. John considered his family a gang of 8, was a jokester and had his own unique nicknames for each family member. John always said before and after his cancer diagnosis that he was so lucky not everyone gets a life like this. John was such a genuine, humble person that everyone loved to be around because he always made them feel comfortable and important. John will be deeply missed by so many and I will miss him everyday for the rest of my life, until we meet again. A Memorial Gathering with a Memorial Mass to follow will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 9:30am until the time of Mass at 10am at St. Andrew Catholic Church (1400 Inglewood Ave, Rochester, MI 48307).
