John Henry Bennett III beloved husband of Anna (predeceased) of 69 years quietly passed away with his family by his side on November 20, 2021. John was 88 years old. John was the father of Victoria (Michael) Gordon, Susan (David) Lombardi, and Mary Ann Sawdon. John better known as Papa, was the loving grandfather of Cynthia (Hector) Rivera, Dawn (Johnnie) Townsend, Larry (Vicki) Shank, Michael Gordon II (Crystal Montgomery), Theresa (Shawn) Emch, Tracy (Kenneth) Gustat, John Gordon and Julie (Donnie) Hunter. John was proud of his 26 great grandchildren Felicia (Michael) Quail, Sabrina (James) Titus, Christopher Townsend, Michael Gordon III, Adrianna Townsend (Nick Higa), Sarah Gordon, Charlotte Gordon, Brianna Regan, Danielle Gordon, David Carrillo, Cody Emch, Estrella Rivera (Cesar Ventura), Ashley Shank, Ella Regan, Rebecca Hunrath, Lexan Gustat, Peyton Hunter, Carter Shank, Lincoln Hunter, London Gustat, Jessica Gordon, Mackenzie Hunter, Carter Teed, Cooper Hunter, Sawyer Hunter, and Izabella Gordon. John has 5 great-great grandchildren, Austin Loftis, Colt Redmond, Ayla Ventura, Elsey Vernier, and Anna Titus. John is survived by his brothers; Ardys (Sylvia) Bennett and Raymond (Jeen) Bennett, his sister in-laws Mira Waack, Gladys Potts, and Virginia Potts, his brother in-law Dr. Vincent (Sue) Potts, and by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. John predeceased by his parents; John Henry Jr. and Irmal Bennett, his sister Isabella (Alsey) Milburn. John was born in Dearborn, MI to John Henry Jr and Irmal Bennett. He went to school in Dearborn, MI where he met his wife Anna whom he married in 1952. John retired from Taystee Bread in Warren, MI. John loved to tinker in his garage, play word search and cards. He also loved camping and traveling. John’s best trait was his commitment and devotion to his family. He was the glue, the rock for his family. After raising his three daughters, he helped care for many of his grandchildren and then his great grandchildren. John had the qualities that separate a “good” father from a “great” one. His family was blessed to have a “great” one. John truly loved his family with all his being, and they loved him. He will be greatly missed by all; but his love will continue to live in each of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and generations to come. Visitation Tuesday, November 30, 2021, from 3-9pm at Wujek - Calcaterra & Sons Inc., 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile Rd). Funeral Wednesday, December 1, 2021, Instate 10:30am until time of 11am Mass at St. Matthias Catholic Church,12509 19 Mile Road, Sterling Heights, Michigan 48313. Interment White Chapel Cemetery.
