James Edward Dargurz

James Dargurz, age 82, passed away on October 2, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather, and a man whose love for his family was at the center of his life. James grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and made his home in Sterling Heights for 40 years. He graduated from Michigan State University and remained a proud Spartan throughout his life, always enjoying the opportunity to cheer on Michigan State. James and his wife, Florence, shared nearly 57 years of marriage, falling just two days short of their anniversary. Together, they built a life filled with family, friends, travel, and many wonderful memories. James worked for Kelly Services for 27 years. He is survived by his beloved wife, Florence Dargurz; his daughters, Kim Gates (Patrick) and Lori Argenzio (Dave); and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Isabella, and Nathan Gates, and Connor, Ethan, Andrew, and Luke Argenzio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Genevieve and Edward Dargurz, and his sister, Elaine Tivador. James enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening, and, most of all, spending time with the people he loved. He and Florence especially enjoyed their trips to West Palm Beach, Florida, and the time they spent at their timeshare. They also enjoyed taking walks, playing pickleball, and going out to dinner with friends. Some of James's happiest times were spent with his grandchildren. He loved games of every kind—board games, throwing a football, shooting baskets, and even teaching his grandchildren Texas Hold’em. Many special memories were made during late nights spent around the table playing games together. James will also be remembered for the way he treated others. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, accepting of others, and quick to forgive. His kindness and devotion to his family will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Visitation will be held Friday, October 9, from 5:00–8:00 p.m. at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons. A service will be held Saturday, October 10, from 10:00–11:00 a.m., followed by a visit to White Chapel Cemetery.
