Gina Goike

GOIKE, GINA. A beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 21, 2026, at the age of 97, in Shelby Township, Michigan. Born on October 14, 1928, in Superior, West Virginia, Gina had a life full of love and dedication that touched everyone she met. Gina's life was marked by a commitment to family and community. She had a remarkable career as a Senior Analyst at General Motors, where she retired after an impressive 30 1/2 years of service. She also was the retired Co-Owner of W. Goike's Family Farm Market, a testament to her dedication and entrepreneurial spirit. Her passions extended beyond her professional career. A published author and avid dancer, Gina possessed a love for genealogy, soap operas, puzzles, and crafts, particularly crocheting and knitting. Never one to shy away from technology, she was known as a whiz on the computer. Gina never missed the opportunity to dance. In fact, her and her late husband, William Goike, met on the dance floor, a fitting start to their lifelong partnership. Gina was a member of the St. Isidore's Comfort Crafters, Shelby Senior Citizens, VFW Ladies Auxiliary Old Settlers Post, and the American Legion Post 351. She was a founding member of St. Isidore Catholic Churh. Her love and kindness were known throughout the community. Gina is the beloved wife of the late William Goike. She is the loving mother of the late Fred (Rose Mary) Goike, Thomas (Charlene) Goike, Annette (the late Paul) Thompson, and Janine Goike. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, William (Sydney), Scott (Iulia), Alisha (Jimmy), the late Kenneth, Danielle (Jimmy), Ryan (fiancé Andrea Bonds), Rebecca (fiancé Robert Wilson), and Gerard, and her cherished great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Lennon, and Aubriella. She is the dear sister of the late Robert (the late Nellie) DeSantis, the late Fred DeSantis Jr., the late Raymond (Sherry) DeSantis, the late Frank (Gerladine) DeSantis, and the late Eva (the late Sam) Mauro. She is also fondly remembered by many loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Mary DeSantis. Visitation will be held at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons 54880 Van Dyke at 25 Mile Rd. (Shelby Township) on Monday, September 28, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a Scripture Service at 7:00 pm. Funeral Tuesday, September 29, 2026 Instate at 9:30am at St. Isidore Catholic Church 18201 23 Mile Road at Romeo Plank until time of Mass at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Heart Association or the St. Isidore Comfort Crafters, reflecting Gina's enduring commitment to helping others. Gina Goike was a woman of grace, faith and joy, and she will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. Her legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire for generations.
