Ghassan Youssef Khalil

1945 – 2025 It is with profound sadness that the family of Ghassan Youssef Khalil, age 79, announces his passing on October 16, 2025. Ghassan was born in Maghdouche, Lebanon, to Youssef and Wadia Khalil, and was a longtime resident of Farmington Hills, Michigan. He was a man whose life reflected faith, humility, generosity, and love. A highly respected mechanical engineer for the U.S. Army for over 31 years, Ghassan’s professional life was defined by dedication, integrity, and service. Yet it was his personal life—as a husband, father, and grandfather, that revealed his true greatness. Ghassan is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Jeanette. He also leaves behind three children; Laura Khalil Abadir (Amir), Jennie Khalil Tallo (Julein), and Joseph Khalil (Shirin); and six grandchildren; Alana, Jacob, Remy, Selma, Maya and Noah. Ghassan’s children consider him their hero, their rock, and their guiding voice. His grandchildren brought him endless pride and joy. He lived a life of service and deep faith. He was a foundational member of Our Lady of Redemption Church in Warren, Michigan, where he played an instrumental role in the building of the church as it stands now, and its continued thriving. His church community remembers him as a humble servant and loving friend who gave endlessly of himself to others. He shared a great passion for language, culture, history, philosophy and poetry. His infectious smile, gentle humor, and calm spirit brought light and comfort to all who knew him. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, and the values he instilled in his family. Visitation will be at Our Lady of Redemption Melkite Catholic Church, (29293 Lorraine Ave., Warren, MI 48093) on Monday, October 20, from 3-8 p.m. Instate visitation, also at Our Lady of Redemption Melkite Catholic Church, will be Tuesday, October 21, at 10 a.m., with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. Interment to follow, at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
