Gerald Francis Dancey

January 3, 1945 - June 1, 2022

Jerry Dancey died June 1, 2022, in Naples, Florida. In 1976 Jerry and his lifelong friend and partner, Robert Weir, purchased Maryland Electric, a small residential Company, located on Maryland Street in Detroit, Michigan. Maryland Electric expanded throughout the years to service a wide range of customers on a variety of projects including commercial and retail construction, industrial facilities, data centers, universities, hospitals, and more. Maryland Electric had two offices in Michigan, Clinton Township and Midland, as well as one in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1978, Maryland Electric joined the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) where Jerry was an active member within the Southeastern Michigan Chapter. Jerry proudly served on their Board of Directors for 37 years. He represented the chapter nationally by serving as the Chapter Governor. Jerry served on various committees, trusts and boards within the electrical industry including the State Electrical Administrative Board, appointed by then Governor James Blanchard. Jerry enjoyed deer hunting and fishing and placed first in many competitive fishing tournaments. He loved his Michigan State Spartans (Go Green, Go White) and was a loyal Detroit Lion’s supporter to the bitter end of each season. He treasured the many friendships he made over the years and enjoyed sharing a good “Irish” story or rendition of “Danny Boy” with them. He was a kind and generous man. Jerry is survived by his wife, Jane Dancey, Son, David Dancey (Rita), Daughter, Dianne Schelosky (David “Lou” JIW), Grandchildren, William, Molly, Jeremy Schelosky, Hunter, Makenna Dancey, Caleb Moose, Sister Dorothy Synkonis, Nieces, Julie Encelewshi and Joanne Arslan (Abe). Also survived by Ellen Dancey Visitation Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 3-8pm at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc. 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile).
