George F. Fischer

FISCHER, George F. of Macomb Township, Michigan was born to Edward and Dorothy (née Fremeau) in Burlington, Vermont on May 11, 1948, and passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at his residence, on October 3, 2022, at 74 Years of Age. George was a loving husband to Mary Jane for 43 incredible years. Loving father of Dorothy (Richard) Grzebik and Frank E. (Jennifer). Proud and adored grandpa of Abigail, Frank Jr., Olivia, and Wallace. Cherished brother of Joan Longe, Jeannie (Bill) Middleton, John (Kathy), and Thomas. Treasured brother-in-law of Peter F. (Kathy) Giacalone and Josephine (Lee) Girard. He will be loved and remembered always by many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Dorothy Fischer. George proudly served for 30 years between the U.S. Army and Air National Guard where he retired from Selfridge ANGB, as Master Tech Sargent in May 2008. He was a Knights of Columbus Member of St. John Vianney Council #11772. He was also a 4th degree Knight and Color Corp member of Sacred Heart Assembly #2599. He was a dedicated volunteer at St. John Vianney including Usher, Choir, and Eucharistic Minister. During Dottie and Frank’s High School career, George was honored to be the Voice of the Marching Eagles and was proud to be known by the Eisenhower Band Community as "Big Fish". He loved being active with anything and everything when it came to his children. George’s radiant smile would warm your heart from across the room. His kind spirit was infectious. He was most happy surrounded by his family, especially with his kids and grandchildren, eating Italian dinners that Mary would prepare. He relished being in the sun - golfing, fishing, doing yard work, or swimming on the beach of Lake Champlain. Visitation Sunday from 3-7pm with a 6pm Prayer Service at Wujek - Calcaterra & Sons Inc., (Shelby) 54880 Van Dyke at 25 Mile Rd. Funeral Monday Instate from 11:30am until time of 12pm Mass at St. John Vianney Catholic Church., 54045 Schoenherr Rd, Shelby Township, MI 48315 (Between 24 & 25 Mile Rd.). In lieu of flowers its kindly requested that any memorial contributions be directed to the family and will go towards furthering research for Opsoclonus-myoclonus syndrome (OMS).
