Gary Lynn Teal

Gary Teal of Washington, Michigan, passed away on November 3, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Gary was the beloved husband of Mary Teal and cherished father of Sara (Anthony) Cocco and Dane (Tiffany) Teal. He was a proud grandfather of Chloe, Lydia, Davis, and Tyson, who brought him tremendous joy. He was the dear brother of Dianna (John) Welke, Chris (Jackie) Teal, and Jeff (late Sue) Teal. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister-in-law Carla and her husband Tim Eichler, brother-in-law Gary and his wife Pat Brinkhuis, as well as his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, with whom he shared close and special relationships. He graduated from Mott High School and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University in Metallurgical Engineering. He began his career at General Dynamics, where he worked hard and dedicated many years before retiring in 2014. Gary married the love of his life, Mary, and together they moved from the west side of Michigan to Sterling Heights, where they built a home, formed many lasting friendships, and raised a family Gary was incredibly proud of. Gary enjoyed woodworking, going on trips with the side-by-side, tinkering with projects in his garage and basement, and anything involving cars, especially his beloved Corvette “Ruby”. He was a devoted Detroit Lions and Red Wings fan, loved music, and, most of all, took great pride in watching his grandchildren participate in the activities they loved. In 1996, Gary and Mary purchased a cottage on Selkirk Lake on the west side of Michigan, which quickly became the heart of their summers. Gary loved spending time there, working on projects, fishing, golfing, taking long pontoon boat rides, watching the kids enjoy water sports, and entertaining family and friends. It was a place filled with wonderful memories and time spent with the people he loved. Winters brought a change of scenery as Gary and Mary headed south to Islamorada in the Florida Keys, where they spent three months each year. Gary loved the warm weather, fishing, days by the pool, dancing to great live music, entertaining friends and family who came to visit, and enjoying time with the many good friends they made there. Above all, Gary cherished his family. He was incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to support them, cheer them on, or share in their accomplishments. He valued the friendships he made throughout his life, loved a good laugh, and enjoyed bringing people together. Whether at home, the cottage, or in Florida, Gary was happiest surrounded by the people he loved. He leaves behind a lifetime of wonderful memories and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2026 from 3-8pm with a Funeral Service Monday, November 9, 2026 10am at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons 54880 Van Dyke at 25 Mile Rd. (SHELBY TOWNSHIP).
