Gary Lyn Bond

Gary Lyn Bond, age 79, passed away on January 25, 2025. He was born in Trenton, MI on April 9, 1945 to Edward Roy Bond and Helene Veronica Bond and grew up in Wyandotte, MI. He proudly served in the Army Corps of Engineers from 1968 to 1970, stationed at Camp Kaiser in South Korea. On October 20, 1972, Gary married Sharon Ann Profeta in St. Clair Shores, MI, and they raised their family in Rochester Hills, MI. He was devoted entirely to his wife and children and loved his country. Over his 40-year skilled trade career in Tool & Die, Gary took great pride in his work. In retirement, Gary found joy in revisiting his youth at the drag strip, striving to improve his quarter-mile time. He had a deep passion for classic and muscle cars and speed, yet mostly appreciated the simple life including spending time with family and taking quiet country drives. Gary liked to spend most of his time outdoors, gardening, rebuilding tractors and engines, spending quality family time up north, and building campfires. He took great pride watching his grandkids' sports and activities, teaching them how to drive a tractor and use a log splitter, and sharing his incredible knowledge of history and cars. Known for his kind, patient and gentle nature, he graciously helped anyone in need without judgment. When asked for advice, he offered wisdom only he could make seem so obvious. Gary had a knack for fixing almost everything. His pride in meticulous work and vast knowledge made him a go-to person for advice on projects. His true character continued to shine after his diagnosis with incurable cancer, and he was determined to keep moving. He was headstrong and fearless, relying on his strong but quiet faith throughout his life. He inspired those around him with his strength and resilience. Gary leaves behind his wife, Sharon, his children Jason (Heidi), Janine (Brad), and beloved grandchildren Jacob (18), Coleman (17), Katelyn (16), Anderson (15), Renee (12), Zachary (12), Selene (10), his siblings and many nieces and nephews. Gary is preceded in death by his brother Edward R. Bond Jr., nephew Edward A. Bond, and parents, Edward Bond and Helene Drouillard. Visitation to be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 at 3:00pm to 8:00pm at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc., 36900 Schoenherr Road, Sterling Heights, MI 48312). Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Entombment Resurrection Cemetery.
