Rev. Frederick W. Traugott

Traugott, Rev. Frederick W. "Pastor Fred" October 7, 2022 Age 79 I was born on August 28, 1943, at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. My parents were Rev. Henry Traugott and Frances Traugott. I had an older brother, William Traugott, who currently lives in Glendale, AZ. I spent my early childhood days in Bryan, TX, for two years and ten years in LaGrange, TX. In 1956 my parents moved to Houston, TX, and I enrolled in Trinity Lutheran School in the 8th grade. While at Trinity, I was very active in the Walther League group and have many fond memories of that experience. I attended Lutheran High school in Houston for 4 years and graduated in 1961. From 1961 to 1963 I was a student at Concordia Lutheran College in Austin, TX, studying to become a minister. In the fall of 1963 I enrolled at Sam Houston State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Sociology in 1965. In the fall of 1965 I enrolled at Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, IL and graduated from there in 1969. I also completed my graduate work at Sam Houston State and received my Master of Arts Degree in 1968. At Christmas in 1965 I met my future wife, Carolyn Hohle, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Houston, TX. We were married at Trinity Lutheran Church on August 19, 1967. We spent our first year of marriage on vicarage in Tucson, AZ, at Faith Lutheran Church. We then returned to the seminary in Springfield, IL, in the fall of 1968, and I graduated in 1969 and received my first call to Faith Lutheran Church in Stephenville, TX. I was called to be pastor of the church and campus minister at Tarleton State University. During that time our congregation grew and we built a new church in 1971. I also began a new church in Granbury, TX, in 1975, Our Savior Lutheran Church. In February, 1979, I accepted a call by the Michigan District to become Campus Minister in Wayne and Oakland Counties. We moved to Troy, MI and lived there until 2005, after which we moved to Macomb, MI. Fred is survived by his beautiful wife Carolyn; three children Tammy, Mark, and Philip; proud grandfather of Ryan, Sierra, Justin, Skye, Joshua, Ethan, and Noah; and brother William. Visitation at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc. (Shelby Twp.) 54880 Van Dyke at 25 Mile Rd. Tuesday 3:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Instate Wednesday 10:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church 37635 Dequindre ( Bet. Big Beaver & Wattles) until time of service at 11:00am. Burial Glen Eden East Cemetery. Memorial tributes to Faith Lutheran Church/Missions are welcome.
