December 29, 1928 - April 1, 2021
DeVleeschouwer, Frederick "Fred" Henry, 92, died peacefully at home with family by his side on April 1, 2021. Fred, born in Detroit on December 29, 1928, was the second son of Henry and Anna. Fred earned an accounting degree from Walsh College before serving in the Army for two years in the Korean War. Upon returning home, Fred met the love of his life, Jean, and they married in 1955. Fred spent most of his career with Berger and Wild as a CPA and senior partner. He thoroughly enjoyed an active retirement with Jean that included travel, golf, dancing at the beach, bowling, pool at the OPC, dinner/card club, and, of course, plenty of family time. Fred’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He was never happier than when they were all together, whether celebrating major milestones and events or spending time with each other on regular family trips. Fred was sociable and quick-witted. He always had a story and a joke to share. (It didn’t always matter if you’d heard it before.) Fred will be loved and remembered by his many friends and his extended family. He was the beloved husband of Jean for 65 years. Loving father of Sharon (Dave) Wenskay, Gary (Kathleen) DeVleer, and Carol (Robert) Wealot. Proud and adored grandfather of Amy (Josh) Gifford, Andrea (Craig) Lindsley, Jennifer (Cole) Wilson, Heather Wealot, Russell (Alexandria) Wenskay, Kelsey DeVleer, and great grandfather of Ethan, Owen, Dylan, Peyton, Eli, Levi, Julia. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Anna, and brother, Raymond. Funeral Tuesday Instate 11:30am until time of 12pm Mass at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 44633 Utica Rd., Utica, Michigan 48317. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery.
